How to stop leg day nausea?

Title says it all. How can I stop this feeling like I’m gonna puke. It feels like I’m finishing up a XC or Track workouts where I’m sprinting 800m repeats 4 times and my body says no f**king more of this bull****, why did I even join this stupid sport, I never liked running to begin with, if anyone knows what that feels like....

Some of the stuff you complain about above might help improve your conditioning, plus you can figure out the timing/type of your pre-workout food that makes you least nauseous.

If that doesn't help, adjust your leg day workout or break it up throughout the week instead of all in one day.

Stimulants and food timing are factors for me. I avoid stimulants (caffeine, pre-workouts with caffeine, etc) and food for at least 3 hours before my workout

    Something like that?

@OP leg day and nausea go hand in hand. Apart from dealing with it, make sure to not drink a metric fukload of water beforehand, don’t overdo the caffeine, and maybe do something like a full body or upper lower with higher frequency and lower volume, rather than a program with a “leg day” that has you doing 25-30+ sets for legs.

I very often feel like puking during squats and RDLs. Just the way it is

sounds like a Wendler quote for some reason

    @OP
doesn't have to be nauseating but I find depending on what and when I eat can affect this. For me personally, Pizza and deadlifts do not to go together, even if I eat pizza 4-5 hours before I lift, seems to just sit in my stomach and wants to come out when I do deadlifts. Too much water kinda also sucks. I prefer doing leg day on a somewhat empty stomach (I will eat something light like maybe 100 cals of chips, apple slices or something) just to have some energy for my workout.

Some exercises are just naturally more brutal. I think for mostly everybody lunges/split squats are hell. Also as mentioned possibly conditioning. Training till you're nauseated and puking probably isn't a sustainable training method for most people, so I'd say switching something up. Would help to see you're routine though.

I don't think most people especially beginners need to do 20 sets of leg exercises right off the bat to failure but just keep it simple and progress from there.

Wait, he said 20 rep. Doesn't he mean an honest, 20 rep, maximum-intensity set?

20 sets of squats at weight to true failure would probably cause most people to faint. But who cares, it's not going to kill them.

well then, you probably don't want to do GVT )) Adjust what/when you eat prior to your workout. Maybe fewer warmup sets. Or just have a bottle of water near by and have a bucket close at hand.

High reps do it to me in a bad way. By high reps, I mean 5+. I count 8+ rep sets as cardio.

I read somewhere that leg day nausea is caused by blood in the body moving away from the stomach to the leg muscles, which suddenly demand more oxygen and nutrients. That sudden imbalance is what makes you feel nauseous. So, improving conditioning/circulation is probably one solution, as is not lifting with anything heavy in your stomach.

However, I never do conditioning, and I rarely feel sick during leg workouts, so there's one anecdote against that.

Here's a quote from albert einstein regarding squats
'if you're not close to throwing up when doing squats then you're doing it wrong'

And here's another quote from stephen hawking
'when I squat, I can't feel my legs'

    Hope this helps

    I only ever puked twice...
Both times where safety bar box squat vs chains or bands. 12-15 explosive doubles. 30s rest clock.

The only other time I felt bad was with a 405 widowmaker.. I got to 17 before the bar slid down my sweaty back 😂 and I reracked it. On the floor blowing of my ass for far too long, seeing stars and wanted to hurl but didn't.

    Normal leg training Nah.
