Almost all other top WCW guys came in to do the job to HHH, and the NWO were bought in to lie down for rock and Austin.
But Goldberg went over The Rock and HHH clean and in fact at times he was put over HHH in dominant fashion. Even when he left they put him over lesnar (who was also leaving but meh) and even in his comebacks he's generally been booked as an older monster but can still take anyone on the roster on the right day.
It's just weird the discrepancy, is it because Goldberg just refuses to job, or is there some other reason.
Every WCW star other than Goldberg has been jobbed to death for WWE guys so it makes no sense to me.

Why was Goldberg the only WCW guy that WWE didn't bury

He hated his first run because he didn’t think he should’ve wore the goldust wig, nor did he like how they used him in longer matches. Wasn’t buried Perse but definitely tried to change his character so he was salty about that despite winning the title off hhh. I gotta say Christian had no business wrestling a longer match with Goldberg and should’ve been squashed.

Mock Vince all you want, but it worked. Let's compare muscles vs non muscles.
Muscles:
Hogan
Macho
Warrior
Lesnar
Goldberg
Rock
Cena
Bruno
HHH
Non-muscles:
Kofi
Finn
Ambrose
AJ
Rollins
Punk
Miz
I'm not saying the non-muscle guys can't work or wrestle, but everything comes down to the bottom line. Maybe you would buy a ticket to see Kofi or Finn over anyone on the muscles list, but none of them are selling out an arena and they all lack star power. Goldberg was the main attraction. Don't see the point in ruining it

well goldberg's whole gimmick was to win all the time
but if you go back and watch that first run it wasn't viewed as a success
he had a better run the second time as a nostalgia act up until he lost to lesnar at wm, now the nostalgia has worn off and people are tired of him
jericho, benoit, eddie and rey all had better careers in wwe than in wcw

In 2003, there were talks that WWE buried him. They booked him in 50-50 matches often. He also ate multiple pinfalls against Triple H.
Remember the triple threat with Kane, Triple H, and Goldberg? People criticized WWE for having Goldberg take the pinfall after one chokeslam.
For years, Goldberg was critical of how they used him like an ordinary wrestler instead of the WCW monster.Last edited by QuentinSutpen; 03-03-2021 at 09:03 AM.
