Harvard admissions: below average black and hispanics over top tier whites and asians

As a clear case of systemic racism, while evaluating students for admissions when using grades/GPA, Harvard gives preferential treatment to blacks and hispanics:

A decile is dividing a distribution(in this case, applicants) by 10 with equal frequency per group so that a comparison between similarly qualified candidates can be made.


As the tweet states, an asian at the top tier decile(ranked 1st) has a lower probability(12.7%) of admissions into Harvard than blacks in the 4th decile(ranked 6th)(12.8%). Whites at the top tier decile has a much lower probability(15.3%) of admissions than Blacks in the 5th decile(22.4%).


Harvard also gives black and hispanic students a 250 SAT score bonus over asian and white applicants:

Our top schools are now more concerned with "diversity, equity, and inclusion" than actually functioning as top institutions of learning.

Meh it’s a private institution and this has been happening for a long time. What happens in practice is the affirmative action acceptances then get low GPAs and the students they “replaced” get higher GPAs at lower ranked schools. By the time it gets to the “next level” of society it’s usually balanced out.

Nothing new here. My niece had a 4.2 gpa, president of 2 school clubs, the best striker on her soccer team, volunteered at several charities every year of high school and still got rejected to a top UC school here while her Hispanic friend with a 3.6 gpa was accepted. And yet California still swears every year that there's no such thing as affirmative action bias in school admissions.
