My daughter graduated high school 4 years ago and 4 of her classmates have, all of them trans and/or loaded up on pills from the doctor.

I don't know the details, but I think they were just having a hard time and didn't know what to do.
They probably didn't have people who genuinely want to listen and get to know them, without trying to fix or change them.

I wonder if suicides were as common back in the old days, I mean days before society.

I feel like society makes people feel as though they've got to be a certain way, and if they just don't gel into that way, such thoughts arise.

If someone didn't abide by the morals that society bestowed upon us, then I feel like being suicidal would be far less likely.

My uncle's niece and her school friend did it in a car in the garage - CO poisoning. They were like 15.
No one knew why, they didn't leave a note. Her mother was devastated and it was years before she got back to normal.

A guy who left the company I worked for hung himself. No idea why. No note.

Both these were 20+ years ago.

Kid in my school was caught jerking off in the bathroom and was filmed by some dude who peeked over the stalls. Video circulated and the kid couldn't take the embarrassment so he hung himself.

Moral of the story: Don't jerk it at school unless you know for sure you won't get caught or just don't wank at school in general...

My Father took his own life back in 83 . Was a good man to, just couldn’t control his drinking.

You got me thinking about this , and I know of two other people .
A friend of mine comes over to get a subwoofer cabinet built , and in the alley his younger brother pulls up to the garage door .
Al introduced me to him , and before I could grab him a beer he takes off.
Then a week later Al tells me he hung himself .

A good friend of mine owned a body shop . He had one employee that I’ve known for a few years and was an awesome person .
His suicide surprised the hell out of everyone. You never know wtf is going on in other peoples lives to make them even think of doing something this permanent . Knowing Rob, you’d never in a million years expect him to do this sort of thing .

I've known a few. I'm in the military, so it tracks.

Last two were guys who were going through divorces. One guy blew his brains out all over the pillow on his wife's side of the bed the day after coming back from deployment because she had been shacking up with some other guy and told him she was leaving him for the other guy. The worst part is that he hadn't updated his life insurance so that bitch got $400k for it. Still bawled her eyes out at the funeral.

Had a friend that I grew up with take his life right before COVID started. They concluded that schizophrenia took over, Which made him go crazy little by little. I never saw this behavior when we hung out, so this makes me have a different opinion on how any of this came to happen to him.

His girlfriend and mother of 2 kids started fooling around with his high school nemesis and rubbing it in his face as he was dying of terminal cancer. He finally just said **** it and got a gun, killed the guy and then killed himself before he ended up in a wheelchair.

We had to go to 2 funerals in a week, and now 5 kids have no Dad between the two of them.

Meanwhile the sloot finds some lawyer and remarries. Seriously, huge red flags and this rich guy takes her up.

One of them I hadn't seen in years and he had always been insane.

The other, I have no idea why. Nicest guy you'd ever meet, everyone loved him, good career, well respected, great guy.

He spent the last few weeks of his life spending quality time with all his closest friends and family - noone ever saw it coming.

A couple of my friends have wondered whether he'd perhaps gotten a cancer diagnosis or something, and wanted to go out on his own terms - but we'll never know.

He was a genuinely good guy and made a huge impact on a lot of people's lives. I hope he's in a good place now.

Yeah, the person who created the whole mess was the one who found them both dead. The local news said she was screaming her head off. I guess to walk in to see that is enough to scar her for life.

Yeah the kids were special needs kids, so they needed one parent.

He even left his friends (including my ex) special journals and mementos. So sad.

I went to his funeral and was shocked that it was open casket considering what he did to his head. Ugh.
