Talks of herd immunity being a real possibility by April, if not summer -- but then proposes the struggle that (mostly) Democratic governors don't want to give up their restrictions and power essentially.
Going back to normal is frightening to them, people will lose money on special interest or restrictions.
Think about it, if Fauci says vaccines prevent transmission and even stop asymptomatic spread, then why wear masks? Why continue to distance?
Something seems really off, and when the real fact of the matter happens that people will develop immunity to it from either catching it or the vaccine, then we might see more news articles insighting fear.

LOL - If you think things are ever going back to normal because of the vaccine.
I work in an industry that is heavily impacted and we do work for/with the government. The company restructured some of its loans and the loans are based upon business picking back up in 2024. We didnt pick these dates based off a dart board but discussions with the government and health officials to ensure we provide contractually obligated services.
....another words the entities told us to prepare our business for significant impact from Covid until 2024.

Life will be “back to normal” within developed nations by the end of the year I’d guess, but I also think international travel is not going back to normal any time soon because people will likely need some sort of proof of vaccination to fly in and out of these nations. So industries that hang off easy international travel won’t just bounce back straight away. Also I’m not any kind of industrial expert but I’m guessing some industries that have effectively had to shut down can’t just come back immediately and will require time as well.
Tl;dr mostly back to normal by end of year, but not for overseas travel and some other industries."A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand."

I went to Great Clips earlier this week. Apparently they now have this policy where unless you're getting your haircut, you can't be inside. Well this elderly muslim couple walked in and the husband was told 30 min wait until his haircut and his wife must wait outside. They came back 30 mins later and both walked in. The fuking hairstylist started telling the wife to get out as if a stray dog had entered her restaurant. It was sickening. And people wonder how the Germans allowed the Nazis to do what they did. I now see hundreds of Nazis every single day. Americans are no different. I can bet you within a minute, I can show you a bish who would be pushing the jews and invalids into the cattle cars 80 years ago.

For J&J? Not sure. Just going by what the article about the FDA approval was quoting. If you are talking about Pfizer and Moderna, the numbers being quoted in articles are claiming:
Mayo Clinic findings show vaccine gives 75% protection 15 days after 1st dose, rising to 83% after 36 days; figure climbs to 89% for people who received both doses (from: https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-stu...ses-with-time/)
Edit to add this claiming 92% efficacy based on the original docs submitted to FDA by Pfizer & Moderna: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2036242. Even before the second dose, BNT162b2 was highly efficacious, with a vaccine efficacy of 92.6%, a finding similar to the first-dose efficacy of 92.1% reported for the mRNA-1273 vaccine (Moderna).3

That was in February 2020. The problem is a month later, Dr. Fauci claimed Covid-19 would be gone in several weeks:
"I cannot see that all of a sudden, next week or two weeks from now it's going to be over. I don't think there's a chance of that. I think it's going to be several weeks."

Past? Yes and no. People in nursing and assisted living have basically all gotten a second shot. Most are fully immune by now. It's not a completely static population, always new admissions. And there are at least as many people in the same health conditions living in a private home with their middle aged kids, or their spouse is taking care of them. Many of them sleep in a hospital bed in their home. They're everywhere. Their health is just as poor, but they fall through the cracks.

Fake news.
The PCR guidelines were to have manufacturers use the number of cycles for the threshold recommended by the test manufacturers.
The WHO notice does not advise laboratories to reduce the cycle count in PCR tests. It advises laboratory professionals to use tests with the proper instructions to ensure accurate results.
When contacted by email, the WHO told Reuters that it did not say the PCR tests for COVID-19 were faulty and that their guidance had been taken out of context. “Since the beginning of 2020, WHO has received 10 reports of problems related to PCR tests for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus which causes COVID-19), including some products listed for emergency use by WHO,” the organization said. “The reports were for misdiagnosis, both false positive and false negative results.”
The WHO confirmed after investigating that the tests were not being used in compliance with instructions provided by the manufacturers. Laboratories faced problems when they did not apply the recommended “positivity threshold”, which can result in false negative or false positive results.
Ian M. Mackay, a virologist and adjunct associate professor at the University of Queensland in Australia, told Reuters via email that the WHO notice is meant for laboratory professionals, especially those unfamiliar with conducting PCR tests in a pathology laboratory setting, and not the general public.
“If a lab uses a commercial RT-PCR kit, then they must follow the manufacturer’s instructions,” Mackay said, “Otherwise, the results produced may not be the best, most accurate results that the kit can deliver.”
In response to the claim in Samadi’s tweet that “the current cycle was much too high and resulting in any particle being declared a positive case”, Mackay said: “Apart from being completely wrong, this comment acts as excellent indicator of a person with no understanding of PCR, the design of PCR tests or of the high-throughout use of PCR processes to test human samples in a quality pathology laboratory setting.” He called the comment “bizarre” and scorned at how it was being used by adversaries of the PCR tests.
PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction, a process used to amplify DNA, and it is run a certain number of times to detect a virus. Mackay discusses the process in detail here , explaining that to detect an otherwise small amount of viral DNA, laboratory professionals run 40 to 50 cycles of PCR, which can vary by laboratory and testing kit.
It's rather ridiculous that virtually every single talking point coming out of conservatives' mouths these days is just straight up fabrications or misinformation.

Lol.
Reading what the WHO has to say is better than any interpretation, I'll give you that. Read what the WHO actually states. That dumbass doctor could have made a lot of hay just by sticking with the facts.
The WHO stated right there that
A) there's a higher chance for false positives with a higher cycle threshold
B) In order to eliminate the possibility of false positives one needs to use the PCR as an diagnostic *AID*!!!
It is not the final be all, end all for diagnosis! So, what do we do with a "positive" without the underlying symptoms? Retest. Evaluate the patient based on how they present.
Also, lol: the WHO is telling labs to follow the directions. Just fukking lol.Virtue is its own reward.

There's been a dozen variants since this thing started. And nowhere in that article does it say anything about whether it's more contagious OR harsh except that it tends to infect people 6 years OLDER. So I guess all the old people had better stay away, just like they should have been all along. Like the regular flu.
People were freaking out about the British variant and it hasn't even been a blip in North America yet.
