Recently it was recommended that I try turmeric to help with my arthritis. And as I'm looking into it, I have seen where it possibly can lead to lower test levels. Can anyone shed some light on this? I do not take any PEDs, and at 41 years old I can't afford to sacrifice any natural test. At the same time, the pain in my shoulders from the arthritis is severely holding back my raw bench.
TIA.

Really?! I've never heard this! If anything, it'd do the opposite or not have any effect at all.
I always stay away from stuff which could potentially lower T, so I doubt your info is right here...Battlefield 8 fan

Turmeric taken by mouth may lower testosterone levels and sperm motility in men. This could affect fertility (your ability to have children).I'm not DrewDarden

I've taken a 1000mg turmeric daily for over 5 years. I turn 41 in May. I don't get my test levels checked, but haven't had any drops in strength or lower energy levels, etc. My joint and bone health seems way better than it was in my early 30's now. I also take fish-oil and Osteo Bi-Flex. The new Osteo Bi-Flex actually contains turmeric now, so I only have to take 1 extra capsule of turmeric to hit my 1000mg per day.

Very cursory search (basically looked up "turmeric lower test ncbi" and skimmed some abstracts) gave very conflicting results. Looks like a couple studies have found it to be an androgen suppressor in human prostate cancer cell lines, and others found that treatment with curcumin significantly increased serum testosterone in rats.
It seems like if it does suppress testosterone, it's not a huge amount. I'd certainly guess that pain from arthritis is holding you back more than whatever negative effects from turmeric (if there are any) would be.BP: 280
