Say you run any 5 day program..
Wednesday is day 1, Thursday day 2, Friday day 3, Saturday off, Sunday day 4, Monday day 5, Tuesday off.
1) Allows social life and fun time on Saturdays and Friday nights if you enjoy going out etc.. or plan a day trip Saturday. You can even indulge Saturday night and feel decent by 4-5PM on Sunday for day 4.
2) It splits the work week. If you run 5 days straight or say M/T T/F, I've notice as I fatigue into the week It goes along with the GYM overall. If I schedule as I've mentioned it totally mentally breaks up the week. Tuesday feels like Friday mentally and by the time you're on day 3, the work week is over and you're free Friday night/saturday.
I can't ever see me running anything different as long as I don't have some massive career shift with ****ed up hours or something.
