I've been training a long time, train loads. The only thing I enjoy doing. Competed quite a bit in MMA too over the years.

Last year was rough getting it in but we had a teammate who had a room with mats that would let like 10 people come over and train so could keep it up during closures.

Gyms back open with classes of 15 for the first time last week. We did open mat pretty much every day... I’ve now pulled my left hip somewhere, have a black eye, and can barely make tight fists, but happy as fuk.

wrestled from age 12-21, stopped for a bit after college, moved down to louisiana for work and trained again for a year or so - this was at gladiators where Dustin Poirier trained long before he went to American. Havn't done anything athletic in probably 8 years now though.

Sadly a few of our local Chicagoland schools have shut down permanently. Our school owner hasn’t taken in new members since the start of the pandemic unless he knew them personally. It’s sad really.

Did some wrestling and boxing in high school. Started bjj and mt afterwards. When I got really serious I started tapout. Never looked back after that

got a blue belt 10 years ago, stopped training.

Got back into it last year and did a full year MMA training and an amatuer fight as a kinda bucket list thing at 44. Training 6x a week for 40 weeks with some home training over covid. Fought a guy 15 years younger and much taller and he pretty much punched my face for a few rounds although i did get a good takedown and and some GnP to win round 2.

Got to train under the head coach at city kickboxing too which was sweet.

In BJJ, you go from position to position to submission.

Sadly, I haven’t consistently trained in almost 3 years (haven’t found a home gym since I moved to SoCal)

I’m actually looking for a catch wrestling gym, but the closest Erik Paulson affiliate is 12 miles (so an hour minimum out here...). The schedule for Gokor’s place doesn’t work, much like most of the gyms out here. I will say, the 10th planet HQ had decent morning classes, I think the smallest class I saw was 12 people, at 5:30am.
