I could write a whole rant about this but I'll try to keep it short. My worldview has really changed in the past year but ts been a long time coming to be honest.
The biggest thing I realized is that most people, and by that I mean the majority of the population, in every country, of all races and sexes etc, are stupid. Yes, stupid. Not gullible or ignorant or uniformed; stupid. Why? Because most people do not have, or never developed, or lost, the ability to
think for themselves. They believe whatever someone else tells them depending on their perceived authority or expertise of the individual or organization
This includes people on the left or the right or the center of the political spectrum. It includes people who vouch for capitalism and communism and everything in between. People are stupid. I believe that people who are more intelligent and have the ability to think for themselves, critically, and to not only use the information around them but to
seek out the most information possible, tend to seek other people of similar cognitive ability because they find most people to be too stupid to converse with. I think they also tend to be more honest, but quickly learn that being honest and blunt is detrimental in most situations, so eventually they learn (as have I), to keep things to themselves and go with the stupidity of the crowd unless they are conversing with someone who can think. That's why you tend to find these kinds of individuals on forums such as these or other places online - its a place where people who want to converse with others (like me in this gigantic post lol) seek out that conversation. I am by no means a genius, in fact I'm ignorant about a lot of things and there's some stupid things I've done in life. But for fuks sake at least I know how to think. Hope to instill this in my children as well.
Secondly and related to the first point is that most people are too scared to step out of their "comfort zone", in almost every sense. They do whatever keeps them and their mind safe. Most people don't dare to consider possibilities outside of what's declared the norm, because it scares them, even if it is subconciously. Go ahead and try to make someone consider the possibility that the monetary system is rigged, or the political system in the U.S. to the point of election fraud, point out the fact that people around the world get brutally murdered in terrible ways every single day, that slavery still exists, that the organized abduction and sexual assault of children by people with power and money exists in the first world. They will say it's a conspiracy theory. I'm not even talking about the stupid and insane Qanon satanic cult chit. I'm talking about real things that happen every day. Everyone wants to live in their bubble at all costs. This is why there's been very little pushback on covid policies that don't have any logic or common sense, that are unscientific and arbitrary. Things like wearing more than a single mask (what?), like prohibiting the use of dressing rooms, keeping corporate businesses open while shutting small ones, banning travel between countries by air but not by land or sea, etc etc etc. They think that because these rules exist, they must be bulletproof. Because the rules are made by "experts" and the experts can't be wrong. I've been called a bunch of names this entire year for calling out stupidity and told that I need to follow the "Experts" because they are physicians or biologists. Then when I explain that I majored in molecular biology with a minor in virology - they don't know where to turn. Which expert is right? People are the same with laws. If something is a law, it must be correct and it must be virtuous. They don't realize that the people they admire as freedom fighters and founding fathers in the U.S. and abroad are literally criminals. Look at how people react to protests on the left or on the right. Tell someone all firearm laws in the U.S. are unconstitutional - they will call you a loony. Suggest to someone that not even 150 years ago people used to marry in their teens - they will seethe. Or tell them the fact that for the first 2 centuries of it's history, the U.S. operated without income taxes - they'll say you're a freeloader.
Lastly, and most importantly, I learned the truth of what the real political and economic system of the world is, always has been, and likely always will be. It's not communism or capitalism. It's not the "jews" or the "illuminati" or any other complicated fantasy bullchit. Its actually very simple - humanity has always been a feudalistic system. From beginning to end. The sooner you come to understand and accept this, the more you will see everything in the world click. In the ancient world, people were ruled by monarchs (and their courts and staff and sub-despots), or by councils (a group of royalty or lords). Any society you look at had some variance of this system. You have the people who have power - power includes title or position, military influence, wealth of currency or assets, and control of resources. Those with this power, starting from the very top who have a lot of power, progressively to those have little to none, control society and the world. They are, frequently, above law. Above standards. They make the rules. They direct the play. These people have no common race or ethnicity, origin, etc. It can be anyone who has power. And those people in power know who they are and who else have power, and both ally and combat each other for control of that power and operate as a mafia. All governments and political systems and organizations in the world have always been and always will be a mafia. The world is a macro version of the Corleones or the Sinaloa cartel. Some, like the former, more honorable and virtuous, some like the latter evil incarnate. The most likely to be virtuous throughout history has tended to be militaries especially those of republics - true brotherhoods. If you are someone without this power, or with little of it - your best deal in life is to realize the reality of the world, learn the rules and use them to you and your family's advantage, and stay away from the sights of those in power. Play the game. There is no benefit or logic or honor in being fair in any system. Do no harm to others as much as possible, but at the end of the day - we are animals - and animals have no rules.
In summary, most people are stupid, want to keep their narrow safe worldviews at all times because they'd rather not accept reality, believe everything they're told by an authority, and don't realize that the world has always been run and probably always will be run by mafias.
EDIT: Oh and I finally solidified the idea that cops as a profession are (can't talk about individuals) two-faced, conniving cowards. No backbone, no honor. Then again - we already established the world isn't some sort of magical fantasyland of honor.
