Is this expected, or is Texas just filled with fuking incompetent leaders?
I swear I remember Texas laughing at California during the summer with their outages....but to fuk up this bad?
Embarrassing.
Hopefully not too many people suffer due to this

Like cattle in a feedlot. Your life will become a lot simpler if you’re not shopping for food every time your hungry or during a panic. Buy a quarter or half beef depending on family size. If you don’t want the cuts buy burger. Single guy here so I buy 30 pounds of ground beef every 4/5 months. Find a chicken guy who sells them whole and free range. Buy 15-20 of them. Now your set for a while and not wondering what your going to eat tonight.

Lived in Oahu Hi. during the tsunami/hurricane that was supposed to happen before 2010. Went to a store to get extra food and all I was able to get was a bunch of Slim Jims. Good times. Hope everyone in Texas makes it through this in good order.

All of you should be responsible and have maybe 30-60 days of food and water somehow. Costco sells emergency packs of freeze dried food that lasts something like 20 years, you get a pretty good amount of calories for pretty cheap too. It won't be a gourmet meal but some of them look decent.
You should have some of those, and water replenished every few years. This was just a damn snow storm. We've become so reliant on technology that one big solar flare could honestly knock out power for a month or two, you don't want to be a part of the group of people who didn't prepare, and no that's not a doomsday prep comment lol.

Texas wanted to secede and be independent. Texas crumbles and becomes a warzone from 4in of snow and sweater weather. I got 16in of snow from that same storm on top of 18in of snow already there and with -30F the day before the storm.
Californians moved to Texas and you guys become a state of retards and dependents with no ability to think critically and zero preparedness. How does no one have extra water "just in case?" How does no one have stored meat, tons of rice, etc "just in case?" Does no one buy more than 2 days of groceries?
This Texas stuff doesn't seem real to me.

I'm perplexed on all of this. Winter of 2003 where I lived in NC had a bad ice storm and millions had no electricity for a long time. It took over 2 weeks at the house I lived in to get power back, half a mile from downtown. My job still had electricity, so working helped cure boredom. No offense Texans, but other than babies and kids you all could stand to go on a water only diet for a few weeks every year.

I was LOLing at that too. I couldn't buy any bottled water, mostly for my dog since my water was shut off. Thankfully I was able to get it elsewhere. Otherwise all the healthy food that's good for you seemed untouched. You would have no idea any of this was going on when you see the fresh food sections.

The warehouses run out because they don't stock for surges. Then it takes forever to restock the warehouses because of long lead times on their orders. Some of that stuff could take a month to get back in the stores, the rest could be light until the orders get back on track.I'm #12 in Y2J's "club"...and I'm scared.
