Only if the IRS cares enough to put effort into auditing your taxes and then pursuing enforcement for not withholding enough. If you dispute the penalties they'll have to go to court to get a judgment which in most cases is way too much effort for some Joe Schmoe. If you're making 300k or up and not withholding they might care enough but the average person is overseen.Originally Posted by Ratfish

I've never owed money on taxes before, but COVID unemployment got me fuked up. Didn't know there was even an option to with hold taxes on that chit.
Owe something like 2 grand atm.
