Got speaking to this dude in the gym today

I was doing a single of 450 today on the deadlift and seen this dude doing some funny looking row which he said was a pendlay row. He then went and showed me some 100lb girl on Pinterest doing a row and said this is what he was doing. He then started talking about repeated bout effect and said he has been training calisthenics lately and is now introducing weights to his routine. He told me in 6 months he will be bigger than arnie because he trains exactly 1.25 reps away from failure. Couldnt believe the cheek of the guy

I got speaking to this guy at the gym the other day and he said:

"Planks are one of the most effective exercises you can do. Why? Because they require a small time investment on your part,
and offer the chance to achieve substantial results in a relatively short span of time. see some videos on planking down below to know how you can do it the correct way".

Next time you see him you should tell him about the BB forums. We could really use a planking expert around here.

Strangest conversation I ever had in a gym was with a guy around early sixties. I'd see him almost every day there doing weird little exercises, using equipment in unorthodox ways, unapologetically invading people's personal space, marching around muttering to himself. We started crossing each other a bit, getting in each other's way and stuff, so I opened a normal conversation to signal I wasn't trolling him and to stake a claim on my personal space so I could do my workouts. Turned out to be a decent fella from New York, pretty standard chitchat until he asked me about my perception of time on this half of the world. Told me about some weird conspiracy theory where some other dimension is intentionally slowing down time in the Eastern hemisphere, gave me the name of it but I've long since forgotten it. I said something like "I'll check that out when I get home" and walked away like wtf. Weirdest thing I ever heard in a gym.

I saw Layne Norton at a grocery store in Tampa yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen gallons of milk in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Just stumbled upon this and man do I feel like the highlight of the day. Little did I know my #1 fan on these forums was the guy deadlifting 450 from yesterday. Did you finally give those rows a whirl? I'm telling you man my traps are sore like no other from them. I couldn't even handle the massage gun after getting my wife to use it. Definitely need that repeated bout effect to kick in soon because I'll get less muscle damage and make better gains. I don't know about being bigger than Arnie in 6 months though..that's a bit of a stretch but it will definitely be "new muscle, who dis?"
