If someone uses a VPN while posting on forums/social media, can people find out where they are really posting from?

I'm guessing the police, VPN company, and google can, but can regular site admins or internet detectives find out?

a vpn is for secure access to a remote server its a sort of tunnel around the information that is encrypted

vpn's have servers all over the world, so to that extent whoever sees its ip can tell what country/city it's from, but if you're referring to your real isp's ip or your home address, then that's very unlikely unless the computer or vpn is compromised in some way where it's leaking real info instead of hiding it behind the vpn.

theoretically yes but practically never happens unless you are really really giga bigtiming on illegal stuff and it makes it super hard aswell

Why doesn't everyone just use a VPN, so people never get doxxed?

At least on anonymous sites like forums. I know w/ twitter blue checkmarks it's not even relevant.
