He said goat of this division.
Given Kamaru's record and dominance he is definitely the contender for goat of his division. He's actually far more dominant than GSP ever was. If they were to fight I think Kamaru would hurt him very bad. Nonetheless we have to see how long he holds the belt for.
Also people hate Usman OP so most people are going to side with GSP based on personality (almost something a woman would do...).

So what? I watched first UFC and before, before you were born, I also actually train LOL
Here is a rule: if some new guy won a few fights you do NOT get to compare him to Tyson, Ali, Fedor, GSP etc. You just don’t get to do it, unless you want to sound like a moron. Over the years there have been SOOOO many of these threads. It’s so stupid.

LOL how is this even a comparison? You guys must have forgotten how good the competition was when GSP was defending his belt. All the following fighters were on their prime and were tearing chit up and all of them got dominated and looked amateur against GOATSP. Prime Hughes, Penn, Koscheck, Fitch, Alves, Condit, Shields... What kind of GOAT has to call out a mid tier fighter like Masvidal because he can't sell fights in a weak ass division??

fukn lmao
GSP defended the belt NINE times. It would be more if it wasn't for the blip that was Matt Serra. That's what separates great fighters from the GOATs.
Usman has defended the belt three times. He fought an over the hill RDA and Demian Maia. I will admit though Woodley, Colby and Burns are good victories though and he's looked dominant thus far. However, guys look dominant until they don't, so we'll see how far Usman can take this. I remember people saying chit about Tyron on how he was unbeatable and the next WW GOAT until he got thoroughly destroyed by Usman. The game changes quickly. One bad performance, a solid punch or kick, etc. It's hard to be consistent and top of your game for a very long time which was what GSP was.
GSP was dominant for 7 years with one loss during that time. Beat the likes of Matt Hughes, Alves, Condit, Penn, Koscheck, Shields, etc. Even outside his title reign, he beat some legit monsters.
Usman is 33 years old so time isn't necessarily on his side, he's wrestled all his life and likely has picked up a lot of wear and tear throughout his career. If he can defend his belt a few more times while notching a few more victories then maybe the conversation can be had. Unfortunately there aren't that many quality opponents in the WW division right now. Wonderboy probably makes the most sense or maybe Colby. But man that Usman jab cracks and I'm not sure Colby can last 5 rounds being jabbed in the face.positivity brah crew

You are using what’s called MMA Math. A version of it. It’s a logical fallacy: fighter A beat this guy, that guy, this guy, that guy, and that guy, therefore fighter A is better than fighter B Because fighter B lost to this guy and that guy. It’s stupid, and you should know better.
Next year there will be a thread exactly like this one asking wether some new guy is greater than GSP. Then another thread like this every year for the next 20 years, and always compared to GSP. That fact alone answers your question. I remember threads like this about every GOAT like Tyson and Fedor going back decades. That fact that only those names stay the same is your answer.

GSP's record is so much better that anyone trying to compare it to Usman's should be embarrassed.
Usman has fought:
post-Covid Burns (his cardio looked superhuman vs Woodley, looked chit vs Usman)
6 day notice Masvidal (Usman held on for dear life and foot stomped his way to a decision)
Colby (who was up 3-1 on two scorecards before the questionable stoppage)
A washed up Woodley (he's on a 3 fight skid, starting with the Usman fight)
RDA (a lightweight)
We're comparing this to GSP? Is this a sick joke?
If we're talking skill vs skill, a hypothetical fight, it's still not close. GSP was the best athlete we have ever seen in MMA. He was also one of the smartest and most skilled fighters.
This is depressing (ded fkin Srs)

Jon Jones cannot be goat, would you put Sammy schilt as k1 goat? Then I guess shaq is basketball goat? Just shove defenders away using your 400 lbs ass and put the ball in the basket using your 25 feet tall height, who needs Jordan skill?
Goat has to be someone who actually has skills, that overcome size disadvantage, Jones is actually not among the most skilled fighters, just a genetic freak steroid using athlete who enjoys massive reach and size advantage over his opponents. Jones is basically participating in special olympics while not being retarded. Jones is setting a female world deadlift record while identifying as a female. Jones’s body simply tolerated more drugs and weight cut. He was cleanly beat by machida and several others until they simply could not any longer cope with his size as the fight went on.
Technically speaking Jones’s style and skill set is basically this:
Take a trident in each hand, poke your opponent with it. The end.
I’m sorry. This is not skill. It’s something Jones should thank his parents for,Last edited by kusok; 02-16-2021 at 10:40 AM.
