Not using some amount of value priced liquor is a massive waste of money if you drink with any sort of frequency. If you are a standard $375,000/yr with massive prior investment miscer than why even consider it, but for the rare type of pleb here who only make low six figures, it's hard to justify having all of your bourbon be perfect for sipping.
With the opportunity cost of a compounding investment return, you are spending a massive amount of future value by being uppity about liquor. I'm uppity about a lot of things, and I will invest in a few more expensive bottles on occasion, but it's just not a great value prop to me and many others.

Agreed 100% started drinking that whenever I was flying a chitton on Southwest because it was their bourbon.
Now its what I keep in my emergency flask. Weller used to be the GOAT deal, but thats no more. Oddly enough, I don’t really care for the regular buffalo trace but I’m a fan of tons of stuff from the same distillery.
Edit: Wild turkey+Everclear= Wilder Turkey according to this crazy dude we saw in a prison doc in my criminal law class. Years ago and its stuck with me, reps to whoever will give it a try.“My garbage disposal eats better than most people”

if you're a fan of whiskey you can find something you like in nearly any price range. nothing wrong with it really. just like food you don't want to get tired of the good stuff by having it too often.
example a couple of my personal favorites are bookers or high west bourye and they run an easy $79-89 a bottle. but if i had them all the time i wouldn't appreciate it the same. sometimes i'm just in the mood for something easy and cheaper vs a high end pour.

Not a huge fan. Too much burn to drink straight and not really that flavorful in a cocktail.
It's cheap and a big step up vs Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, but those are both legit 2/10 whiskeys and WT 101 is maybe like a 4/10.FA Crew

I am an alcoholic. If I go out and drink socially, I drink beer. Stouts/porters or red/amber. At home, I drink cheap Scotch. The cheaper the better, because I drink it like water. As far as I know from a quick goober search, Scotch and bourbon are both whiskeys, difference being bourbon is more sweet. Every Scotch I have tried is smoother than Jameson. I drink it on the rocks or neat. If it's just labeled "whiskey", it's hit, usually miss how smooth it is. But every Scotch I have had is smooth, even the super cheap ones...which is what I get. My local supermarket sells handles of Scotch for $12.?? a handle if you buy 4 or more.

Crown's pretty tasty. I bought a 200 mL bottle of the vanilla Crown last Friday, stuck it in the freezer, and sipped away on it all holiday weekend (still got a little bit left). Wood recommend/10.
Black Velvet is good chit too, tastes kind of like a budget Crown and it's unbelievably cheap. Fukking $14 for a half-gallon handle here in California. I like it but don't half-gallon like it. If my income ever went down though....

Wild Turkey 101 was the first whiskey that 'clicked' for me. I have fond & foggy memories of going camping with my dad and my dog and drinking a full bottle of Wild Turkey next to the fire. One time we actually planned to try to hunt wild turkeys but we drank too much at night and woke up too late the next day. Fuk now I wanna go buy a bottle.
