Not true at all.
Just because some really cheap designers smell synthetic (no schit they're so cheap) there are thousands of designers out there that smell exceptional. My la nuit would compliment mog the hell out of any niche in your collection while out on a date and that's fantastic because most of the time I don't want to smell complex or be snobby about "muh quality". Most of the time I want to smell great and pleasant.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

I have plenty of designers I enjoy, but find it more difficult to get something new I like in that price range.
I wear designer fragrances more than anything since they are more mainstream acceptable. This is the main difference. I have so many powdery, or spicy, or fresh designers that there is little nuance between them. Most people cannot tell the difference between Dior Homme and Midnight in Paris.
If I want a smell like damp fruit in a fu**ing bat cave or the musk of some wild ferret indigenous to sri lanka it is going to cost me money and I likely will never wear it, but only pull the cap off to sniff from time to time.
Edit- when I say synthetic I mean **** like mugler. I have about six mugler fragrances I liked and wore a lot when I started collecting. I first started with everything cheap on discount sites. I cannot wear any of it anymore since it smells synthetic and even my wife (who use to compliment me on it) complains now. She also knows nothing about perfume, but is on the hedonic treadmill with me unknowingly.
Oh, and **** off with your la nuit nogging my collection. You know nothing of the wild bat cave and panda with dysentery I have in my collection. Fu**ing normies.Last edited by FingerFood; 02-22-2021 at 02:18 PM.

It was a little boring here with all the high fiving and if I call out Coal man for La Nuit I may get some of those sweet sweet Ninja reps.
I agree that there are perfectly good designers and you do not need to spend a lot to smell nice, but you cannot claim there is no quality difference between something like Tom Ford Noir Extreme and his exclusives like Oud Wood.
Your not going to find a designer fragrances that is going to clone Portrait of a Lady or Musc Ravageur.
Even so you may have them and still spray la nuit or cdg man 2 everyday. I find myself smelling three or four niche before putting a designer on everytime I spray.
My point is the odd or made with good ingredient niche are what I ended up wanting after I got all the less expensive main stream stuff. You never run out of things to purchase, but there are fewer unique scents unless you are really nuanced in how you smell them.
Now when I want to buy something it is usually going to cost more and I know I will not wear it. This slows things down. My last two purchases were Music for a While and Pure Distance M. The Pure Distance M was a mistake. I do not find it special enough to be worth the price and regret it.

In b4 W1LL reads this and gets a boner
Lol I hear you breh. With niche there's definitely more uniqueness which can keep the frag journey more exciting. I enjoy smelling challenging scents from time to time but don't care to wear them really. The niche I wear are like slightly weirder designers.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Lol'd. Weird example to use. Noir Extreme is the better scent to my nose. Oh and just an FYI, you pay high prices for Luxury solely for the brand name and packaging. Both Noir Extreme and Oud Wood are MADE 100% of synthetic ingredients and the juice inside them are only worth a few dollars each.
When you say there's a "quality" difference you're just saying one smells better or is probably better blended to your nose but again, I prefer Noir Exteme and I know a few here do too.
I don't know anyone here who even owns Oud Wood.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

I also prefer Noir Extreme and wore it most in the past. It has a screechy synthetic in it that only tends to do well with other people while in the cold. Oud Wood is definitely over priced and I would not pay retail, but my wife likes it when I wear it and I although it may be small I think there is a quality difference either in material or just blending. If you wear Oud Wood for a while you may find you like it. It works very well on summer evenings. All the girls say it beats la nuit hands down and we all know that is how we rank things here.
I have the Luca Turin books and have read his biography by Chandler Burr, but that is my only insight in the industry. It is all chemicals and we are probably giving ourselves cancer sniffing carcinogens all day.
I still like the smells some of these robbers like Tom Ford and Frederick Malle put out. It is all psychology, but there is a difference when you hold that quality bottle with a perfect sprayer.

Yeah of course.
And that goes to show because Oud Satin mood is a 9.5/10 full bottle worthy for me. The harder choice would be OSM vs Amyris Extrait because the former is my favorite sexy time scent and the latter is the closest thing I have to a signature bar/lounge scent.
I'd appreciate the Naxos v 1981x comparison because my memory tells me they were kinda different and not spot on.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
