long time no see, anyone have any independent reviews of the rep fitness ft-5000. I'm worried about being disappointed. Really only used life fitness versions of a functional trainer. The rep is 2k the life fitness is 5k.....will I be in the buy nice or buy twice category?

Cybex Bravo, Star Trac Instinct, Life Fitness CMDAP, Life Fitness G7, Prime's FT, Legend's FT ... All good FTs, but all very expensive. The best value in FTs comes from Inspire (FT1, FT2, FTX). You'll see them recommended here over and over.

Just get the membership if you don't have one. Membership is $60. Extra 5% charge for non-member on this machine is $65. Easy math. Also, if you have a Chase Freedom credit card, you get an extra 5% cashback at Costco this quarter.

Thanks for the info. I think I would be looking at the FT2, in that inspire group. I’ll have to find those recommendations.....just doesn’t give off that commercial vibe.

It's a residential unit, but it's very smooth and easily better than Rep, Titan, etc.

If you go the FT2 route I think the only thing you won't have on the station is adjustable arms (if that's even of importance to you), it has it all and is solid and smooth.

I tried both the FT1 and FT2 at a local fitness equipment store and it felt quite commercial for being a residential piece, with all the word on the lower priced and slightly smaller foot print Inspire FTX I've been slightly tempted to get one if I only had the space (might have to make more room for it) lol.

Sounds like you got two solid choices lined up to make a decision on, good news is that you can't go wrong with either one. The Inspire FT2 is excellent with the array of variety (mainly upper body movements, however with the built in smith machine that opens up some leg movements as well).

Belt squats are excellent as well to torch the legs with high volume and no strain on the back, feels like a natural bodyweight squat with added resistance which is great.

I have the FT2 as well as the Rogue Rhino and both are great machines..I love the Rhino but I would get a FT if I only had room for one or the other. Can do a lot with the FT2

Congrats, I really like the Inspire dual cable machines, they're as smooth as anything on the market. Without stepping up to a commercial unit, I think the Inspire FT1 and FT2 offer the best value at this price point.
