If you ever want to sell your SBR you have to convince the person buying it to get their prints done, submit a background check and pay $200 for a tax stamp.

So downside of not registering your SBR is...nothing? I can't think of cases where someone was jailed for having an unregistered SBR. If it's ever brought up the charges get dropped. If you ever use your SBR in defense just disassemble it. Active non-compliance is the way.

I already have NFA items so in that case I could see SBRing a single lower.

But it certainly wouldn’t be my only rifle. A lot of people end up with like 10+ AR’s.

Good to have options. Also some people are afraid to take any legal risk even if minuscule.

Farley already posted a few cases of people getting charged with illegal SBR’s so it’s not a zero risk thing but I’d say pretty low risk if you aren’t a complete moron.

Or if you ever want to sell your SBR, you can just put a brace on it (lol), or a bare/foam buffer tube old school pistol type thing, or swap to a longer barrel and change the stripped lower out for a different stripped lower. The ~$100 stripped lower is the only serialized, registered part, and AR's are legos, it's easy to convert it to a non SBR.

Or sell the SBR to someone who is willing to legally purchase an SBR.

I'm waiting on the brace verdict. If it's made an NFA item and people are forced to comply with the guidelines of the ATF i think we'll see a lot more conversations like this. If they keep making new rules and people keep following the new rules then why would they stop there?

Years ago I wouldn't agree with the chit im saying now.

Everyone is gonna have to make a decision on what they are comfortable with. I say fuk da law see username lol.

But if it means I can’t use my favorite guns and they are relegated to the back of the closet, that’s no good. That’s why I can see having 1 or two SBR’s if you are risk adverse.

Way worse “discussions” happen on arfcom, Facebook, and Reddit every single day.

No one cares what you post on a gay, dying Indian bodybuilding forum.

A glow post would be linking to wish.com Glock auto Sears. This is a discussion of what should I do if Biden makes me a felon overnight. Seems legitimate to me.

YouTube celebrity Colion Noir sells I will not Comply t-shirts, but stating the same ina dying forum is gonna get your door kicked in? Please.

The ~$100 stripped lower is the only serialized, registered part, and AR's are legos, it's easy to convert it to a non SBR.

Or sell the SBR to someone who is willing to legally purchase an SBR.

Serious question. To convert and sell a registered SBR, you need to unregister it or something, right? Like if you just slap a a 16" upper to sell it, doesn't the ATF still just figure you sold an SBR when you transfer it?

Only the lower receiver is registered, its makes almost no sense to sell a form 4 (or form 1 I guess) SBR.

But pretty sure you can sell NFA items but the person buying it has to get the tax stamp still.

The "use it in defense" situation is the hole to the plan for anything not fully legal. If you think you can just disassemble the weapon and slap a different config together before the cops show up, I don't think you understand how good forensics are in 2021.

This is true, a brace makes an AR WAY more deadly, police forensics teams are THE best of the best. No way you would just get away with saying you shot someone with a bare tube. Plus taking off a brace requires special tooling that only a certified trained gunsmith can acquire.

Exactly why I have a Maverick 88 shotgun for home defense, worst case is I lose a $250 shotgun to an evidence locker, and it is a very 'safe' gun legally to use.

While unlikely they would bother in many cases, there is a very good chance they could use the lack of matching gunpowder residue on the bare tube to establish it was covered when the weapon was discharged.

I wouldn't want to be the guy assuming the DA didn't hate gunowners enough to dig around after a shooting with the *most* controversial class of firearms.

I agree with them not going door to door being likely, I bet enough people (not many, but enough) would just open fire at that point which would be enough to discourage that.

Doubt they would gently knock on your door and politely ask in any event.

Probably more like a 4am no-knock raid. Shoot your ass when you’re in bed.

Imo this is why they are trying to reform police and military. Need their gestapo for enforce their laws, I hope most cops these days would say fuk off but you never know.

They could just send threatening letters and 99% of people would surrender them I bet.
