That’s why I wouldn’t want to be a cop especially now holy chit.

I mean the pension and bennies are tight but no way would I give maximum effort to actually enforce the law if one bad call lands me in jail or dead.

Oh he’s running oh well, we’ll get em next time would be my attitude.

What other bikes have you rode? I got a DR-Z400SM last year and I've been loving it. Dualsporting around is a blast. I'm sure where you're at you can be in the desert on trails pretty quick.

My first bike that I learned on back in 2013 was a 2013 Ninja 300

2nd bike was the Indian Scout Sixty

My next bike will probably be a Scout Bobber (full size 69 cu in)

Other than that the only other bike I've rode was a Suzuki VStrom that I rented for a few days in Maui which was by far the best riding I've ever done Maui is insanely beautiful and fun roads to ride.

Looking to buy my first can. I really want a Surfire SOCOM but they have been oos at Silencer Shop.

Silencer Central appears to have Banish Gold in stock, seems like a great can and they also have a kiosk near me, Silencer Shop does not.

I know the Banish is direct thread too...not ideal but I think I'll be fine with it. I tinker with my ARs so much I just don't think it will be an issue.

If anyone could drop some "things I wish I had known" knowledge that they think I might be missing that would be super.

they help prevent printing by "wedging" the firearm you're carrying to an angle against your body so it's flatter against or something like that

I wish I had just gone with Surefire the first time. And definitely with a QD setup, then you can put a matching muzzle device on any/all compatible firearms and put the silencer wherever you want whenever you want.

And get one dedicated to the caliber you primarily intend, IMO, not a larger one just in case (like for 5.56 get a 5.56 can not a .30 to primarily be used on 5.56 'but options for later'). I did that, never used it on a .30, just had a larger heavier can with less suppression for no reason

TIL: The use-of-force expert witness the state hired/used in the Chauvin trial...this is his first and only time ever testifying in any federal or state court as an expert on use of force.

Edit: You just gotta read if you haven't paid much attention

    https://lawofselfdefense.com/chauvin...xpert-witness/

There's no way this conviction comes down the way the rioters want.

The state's expert witness at the trial for use of force literally said he never even heard the 911 call that lead to Chauvin responding to the scene. And more, and more.

It's sounding like as weak of a prosecution as in Trayvon's case (though I actually watched that one so I know about 100x more about it than this one)

Edit: Excerpt. And this is defense cross of the state's expert witness

"Then we had another incident in which Stiger seemed woefully poorly informed about his own $10,000 26-page report. Nelson asked if Stiger himself had not concluded in his report that the efforts of Lane and Keung to compel Floyd’s arrest had, because of Floyd’s active resistance, ended when they realized the “futility of their efforts.”

Stiger objected that he didn’t remember using those words in his report.

Would referring to your report refresh your recollection? Hands over the report. Stiger looks at it read, nods.

Oh, yeah, I did say “futility of their efforts.”

Folks, again, it’s not like Stiger didn’t know he was going to be testifying about his report today, nor that his report was, let’s face it, all that lengthy. I just don’t understand how he could be so poorly prepared.

Then Nelson dove into Stiger’s personal experience in making arrests of suspects. Isn’t it true that sometimes suspects lie in an effort to avoid arrest? Yes. They’ll bargain? Yes. They’ll make up complaints of distress? Yes. Should an officer consider not just the words, but also the actions, to see if those are consistent with the words? Yes.

When Floyd began saying that he couldn’t breath, wasn’t he at that moment violently fighting with the officers to prevent them from putting him in the squad car? Yes. Isn’t that conduct inconsistent with not being able to breath? Yes.

Lesson: the officers had good reason to believe that Floyd’s claims of difficulty breathing were a fabricated claim of medical distress."

As a matter of law, the jury cannot reach a verdict for the prosecution. Expert witness testimony has established reasonable doubt that Chauvin’s actions caused the death of Saint George. The prosecution has imploded.

Who knows what will happen IRL though.

    Pretty much.

Prosecution didn't seem very strong to begin with but it only got worse at trial apparently.

I get your point, but in practice it just doesn't work. In CA there was a long period of time where mags over 10 rounds were banned for possession, not just purchase. Everyone still ran out to the range with their standard cap mags, and they still do- even with things that literally didn't exist during the legal purchase windows for grandfathering. Neither me nor anyone I know can find a case of a criminal case originating with a magazine law. That's always add on to something clearly already being prosecuted. Most recent example in CA was an actual felon with a gun, but got reported as a magazine law case.

It's also impossible for people at the range to verify if something that "looks" illegal is actually illegal- unless you go to a fudd range that checks paperwork for you to shoot. What if you show up with a pistol brace or even traditional SBR? How do they know you don't have a stamp or that you're not off duty LE?

My point is that if the approach isn't just to straight go after possession, it's political theater.

Oh he’s running oh well, we’ll get em next time would be my attitude.
Our policy changed in 2019 and a fleeing inmate who is doing nothing but just running away cannot be shot. Killed multiple people and is escaping? As long as he is just running away we cannot shoot to stop him; only if they pose an imminent threat at that very moment can we shoot. So unless they try to attack someone then and there all we can do is chase and try to get local PD to help in apprehending.

I am glad I'm a C/O now though, was going PD initially. It's hard for me to fck up in a way that would cause me to get in serious trouble, really hard. I can fck up bad but killing someone would be so damn hard for me I'd pretty much deserve what happens. Worst I have seen was people not doing security checks properly and missing an OD or suicide, they lose money for a time, but that's it. Only fired if you fck it up twice, and no one has done that since I've been there.

Carrying both a holstered service pistol and a holstered taser that has a grip, a “barrel”, and a trigger seems to make it inevitable that a stressed cop will smoke a thug while intending to just taze him.

I think it's common to require taser be carried support side for this reason.

Big picture I'm sure more lives are saved than lost because tasers are used to end situations before lethal force is needed etc but when this happens it is sure to make some people evaluate a lot of thinhlgs

With MINIMAL training you should feel the difference between drawing from support side vs strong side. There is really no excuse for shooting someone, well except for no one can predict how they will act in stressful situations.

You would hope the training would “kick in” but clearly it didn’t.

But at the end of the day like you already stated don’t be a felon and resist arrest helps save lives to.
