The Sparrow grip allows a thumb wrap. It feels a lot like a shotgun angle. Ideal? No. But if it's the choice between a handgun or an AR with the retard grip, I'll take the retard grip.

I got a magazine article where they put a BCM through a rigorous test I believe it was 25k rounds (multiple classes, everyday shooting type stuff) and it was never cleaned or lubed and it was still chugging along

BCM and Geiselle both make nice ass products and you really can't go wrong with either or besides a few differences

No, but I've had a sorento for 6 years. No complaints, handled well in snow/ice. Have towed 1500-2000 pounds with a few moves.

Haven't looked into the telluride, not sure how similar they are.

I'd go with LMT for the monolithic upper and ambi lower, however, G does have a leg up in some regards:
G has better trigger
G has better muzzle device
G has better BCG (LMT rifles do not ship with E-BCG AFAIK. They actually ship with semiauto carriers for some stupid reason)
G doesn't have any proprietary parts
G has much better gas port sizes
All these can be upgraded on the LMT though. I ordered a BRT gas tube for my incoming LMT.

Both companies seem to have had some issues with QC recently (LMT moved from IL to Iowa + increased production for big contracts and Geissele expanded their product line by a lot). Both stand behind their products though.

This was the aspect that spurred my comment today.

So, the long of it.

Some may recall I've just about had enough of my overgassed BCM blowing up my eyeball when shot suppressed. The thing is overgassed like it was an RRA or a delton or something intended to be shot rarely, dirty, unlubed, with weak ammo.

BCM upper, 11.5", Mini 4 or SDN-6, absolutely atrocious gas to face/eyeball. I tried a heavier buffer (delay unlock, reduced pressure when gas gets back to where it can blast your face, is the theory there), a vltor A5 with the damn -H4 buffer even, LMT enhanced carrier (with the extra gas porting), a thing that replaced the forward assist with a gas vent, BCM GF CH, Geissele ACH, Pri Gas Buster CH's (two different ones)...still blowing my eyeball out with gas and burnt powder and just terrible. Basically unshootable, really. Yes I know I should take it apart and change the gas block to fix the source, but I shouldn't have to do that and the things I did would fix a 'slightly' overgassed but this BCM is ****ing insane


Enter, Geissele Super Duty 11.5" with Surefire SOCOM556 RC2. 100% mechanically stock G rifle (added optic, light, sling, and changed pistol grip, that's it) + suppressor...virtually zero gas to face. Shot about 15 rounds in 20 seconds or so (guestimate) before I consciously thought "hmm I just smelled some gas". Shot a couple magazines fairly quick before my eye watered and even then it was significantly less bothersome than literally like 2 shots with the BCM


3 range trips with that setup, same report every time. Very minor gas to face, reliable, smooth, 'soft', beautiful trigger, just a joy to play with or shoot

The BCM is safe queen now. I should probably take it's Aimpoint off and do something else with it.

Yeah, BCM's are gassy bois. LMT's 11.5 is something atrocious like 0.078 or something. A whole .01 larger than it needs to be. I bought a dedicated suppressed gas tube from BRT. Easiest way to fix overgassing.

The gas tube or gas block is surely the way to go. I think BRT is where I got the forward assist gas vent. I was really hoping I could fix the BCM without having to get into disassembly work like that (I've had some bad experiences getting gas tube pins out, and have never tried to swap a gas block)...maybe I'll get around to just having a local smith try the small diameter tube sometime.
