nothing.
auditory exclusion is a real, and a wonderful thing
plus, also want to hear other things around the home.
could use electronic ears that reduce decibels of loud noises, but not trying to remember 5 things to do before my few seconds are up
also suppressor if ya likethe above post is not serious and is for entertainment purposes only.
Thanks for your time.

Well, for sound, a suppressed pistol especially one with subs would of course be quieter. Better? No.
5.56 is loud, period. But. Every 10 db reduction halves the perceived loudness so even 'just' a mere 20 db reduction means 1/4 the perceived sound level.
And IMO more so than how 'loud' it's perceived, is the concussive effect. Suppressor can really knock down the "hit in the head with a rubber mallet" feeling

So my dad called and said he might get another scar 17s lol he already has one he never shoots, but likes building different load outs. What optic would y’all put on the scar? He’s thinking ACOG which is what I have on my HK. Mines the 3.5x. Idk if the 6x would be to big for it. Or if a LPVO would be better.
Hoping he tells me to go pick it up that way I can have this one in my name lol
Edit- he told me to go pick it up Monday and put it in my name! Fk yeah.Last edited by Unstumpable; 02-27-2021 at 10:07 AM.

Had a dream last night that biden got super egregious with his gun control initiatives, and passed an EO requiring only ONE gun manufacturer to produce and sell firearms. the trade off was all other gun brands were obsolete and illegal, you were forced to sell them to the govt, but for some reason ammo prices plummeted and the legal branded guns were cheap.
the one company allowed to stay? You guessed it. Sig Sour.
Then I dreamt the next day I was browsing MFC and Farley was a P365 superfan, and I pooped out a whole helping of sauer creams on the toilet6 scoops of xf up2.0 a day

Be careful. The ATF doesn't care whose you say it is, they only and solely care about how possesses it
If he's going to be possessing it at his place, and you do the 4473, you have to pay for it as a legitimate gift. You can't buy it with his money or he pays you back and then it lives in his safe.
It's a stupid ****ing law that as usual passed on false pretenses (supposed to stop straw purchases of qualified buyers for a prohibited person) but it's been twisted into the first step towards registration which the courts have upheld

That's a different question.
If you and your parents both live in the same state, and private transfers are legal in that state, you can keep your guns at your parents house. In the eyes of the law/the ATF, it will be the same as if you gifted your guns to them (gift back and forth, whatever, or just a private transfer which is legal in most states)
But if they paid for the gun and you filled out the 4473, and you took it back to their house, that could be a problem, due to "straw purchase" law. It's the "actual buyer" question on the form, basically (21A).
If they pay for it, you fill out the 4473, and you take it to stay at your house, you're fine. They don't care who pays for it if the person on the form is the person who takes possession.
The semi gray area is, they can buy it for you as a gift (they pay, you 4473, you take it home...or they pay and they fill out 4473 and then gift it to you), and later on you can decide to private transfer it to them or anybody else (provided there is no state law against that), so it can even still end up in their possession after you did the 4473.
As with almost all gun saws it's stupid and shouldn't exist and following it can be difficult. Most people are unaware of them and just get lucky that it doesn't come up

Never gave it much thought before, but the best option is probably a .22 and the ability to shoot like Jerry Miculek. Barring that, a pump or lever action with with a suppressor seems like an interesting option. Since I've read revolvers are loud even suppressed, a pump or lever gun would be the only suppressed option that I'd be confident is completely reliable. Course, I've got 5 dogs and bear spray too. The pups can be annoyingly loud, but they're pretty hearing safe 🙂
On the j frame vs shield, I meant easier to carry concealed. The j frame in an owb cross draw is the absolute most comfortable option for me. Works for standing and sitting/driving, but, I'm a little guy, 5'8", 165, and owb cross draw requires a jacket to conceal. Shield is better iwb. Personal preference.

i've heard cqb guys talk about how in high stress situations like this your body goes into a temporary state where gun fire doesn't affect hearing as much as you'd think. Having never been in a situation like that I can't confirm, but .300 blackout with subs and a silencer is the best you can do for HD if you're concerned about hearing. Ton of specialty ammo similar to this https://www.lehighdefense.com/all/30...led-chaos-ammo
