"The world's most combat proven optic" or so says Trijicon about their ACOG
“The ACOG mounted on the M16 service rifle has proven to be the biggest improvement in lethality for the Marine infantryman since the introduction of the M1 Garand in World War II.”

what are you going to do outside of town that you couldn't do there? You think there are more supplies than in town?
best thing you can do is stick together with your community and organize a plan.

I’ve seen less than 5 eotechs in the military IRL

It is unfortunately not astigmatism proof. To my eye, only etched reticles are. BUT it does look better than my Aimpoint PRO did in that regard and viewed through a flipped up rear aperture, it looks very good.
I decided I wanted some optic(s) with the circle around a dot and not just the little solo dot, and still won't buy eotech. It has a greater FOV (perception) than the micro dots. Both eyes open it doesn't/shouldn't really matter, but the little aimpoint micro/Romeo5 size tubes just have that through a straw effect and I kinda got used to looking through the MRO and the little ones feel so...little, now.
I also, honestly, didn't even realize the MRO HD existed until after I ordered the UH-1. I probably would have gone MRO HD but oh well. The basic MRO is on my HD firearm and the battery life on the UH-1 is good enough that if I take it anywhere I'll just turn it on and leave it on (does have 14 hour auto off). I also like that it takes CR123, those are easier to find for me than even CR2032 and more importantly I have CR123 for other things already anyway (flashlights, WML's, Arlo cameras, whatever else). So pretty much for my uses the only MRO HD advantage vs UH-1 would be slightly less weight, but 11 oz with mount for the UH-1 isn't bad at all
As long as I have one made in USA basic RDS that can be always-on, I'll have that on my HD firearm and play around with the rest
Edit: Also sage dynamics and flannel daddy both had in depth and very positive videos so that always helps, that's a strong comboLast edited by Farley1324; 03-02-2021 at 11:55 AM.

MAC had a negative MRO HD review and he’s a borderline shill. Something with the trasmitter being visible when the circle part of circle dot is turned off?

Ohhhh yes I forgot about that. After looking at the MRO HD I decided it was fine I didn't know about it until after buying because I would have been scared away by that.
Lots of feedback out there, actually, of the ghost image or whatever you want to call it on the MRO HD.
For shame, Trijicon, you're better than that

If you are viewing your dots through the rear aperture do you then use absolute co-witness mounts ? Kind of defeats the purpose of the higher 1/3 mounts doesn’t it.

My understanding is that you get the ghost/shadowing when the optic is set to dot only and not ring + dot.
If it's only when optic is completely turned off then I agree, who careslol
Treat somewhat like a flip to side magnifier. Keep rear sight down unless and until you want to cozy up and take a precise shot (like, when zero-ing the rifle), flip it up temporarily for that, but generally have it down

That's fine but just think of what a real world defensive use of an AR is, and look at some videos on TheNYC, Hoodsite, Liveleak, etc. None of these fukkers are using iron or red dot sights. The range is almost always so close you really don't need any sights at all, not that anyone bothers to use them anyway in a panic situation. I can shoot the balls off a flea but I know a real world situation isn't like the movies where you have 10 minutes to get into position and sight in the target. Of course I still have Ampoint PROs on my main sticks.

So what's everyone's favorite WML these days?
Anybody have the new Rein? The beast-tank OWL? Surefire Scout? Or going poverty with Streamlight railmount? An aficionados with modlite?

OWL crew. Probably need to pick up another one for another rifle, will probably go with the rein on the next one.

For Rifle I have a Modlite and Surefire M600DF
Both seem durable and haven’t broke or anything but the modlite beam is tight AF and seems overall brighter. Would recommend.
OWL’s are big AF imo and ugly.Browns/Indians/Cavs/Buckeyes

Olight Odin crew, cheap and works great.

Two options
Surefire X300u-a
Streamlight TLR-1 HL
Their simplicity, incredible toughness, all in one design including pressure switch, and ability to put on/off with no tools on any rail with a pic top regardless of the design of the rest, is very appealing
