Regular Sit Ups vs Weighted Sit Ups

    Hi,

I'm a bit new to weight lifting. I'm seeing a lot of people doing sit ups, but I thought to myself, isn't using the abdominal crunch machine better than regular crunches because you're actually using weights?

When should someone use a abdominal crunch machine and why would it be better or inferior to doing regular sit ups, crunches, planks, etc...?

    You’re sitting upright on a crunch machine, a sit-up you’re using gravity

If the goal is to build bigger abs, you need to add resistance. Cable crunches and weighted situps on a decline bench have been my go-to ab exercises for years. This should go without saying, but make sure to keep your core tight, your back straight and avoid using momentum when doing situps.

That could be ok but i wouldn't just use that exclusively for weighted resistance.
Regular setups with a weight plate or DB on chest.Rope crunched ,standing band abs,ab wheel, are all resistance for the core and abdominals.
Do some research and explore what ab movements feel good to you.
Yes feeling the abdominals is important.
