The bridge is an interesting one.

Before that new highway went in those hills were all farm land. When the government aquired the land and cut the guys property in half to build the highway, they built him the bridge so he could access the other half of his farm. Its actually a private road now for his own personal use.

It's not that bad, but about half the cost of fuel is road tax which inflates it somewhat.
But once you hit CEO 10k/day nothing really seems to 'cost' anything

They were mostly filmed in the central north island/south island. The closest filming location to me would be Matamata where hobbiton was set, and that's a few hours further south.

This is true mate! From memory, there was a taniwha in Johnsons hill where they put the tunnels through. It cost an extra $350 to make him go away

Thanks mate.

I dont speed on the roads, even open highways. You can see in some of those pics how narrow they get, with no median or centre lane. When you add in the size of those trucks comming the other way its just not worth it

I totally understand, I was born in Europe so I know about narrow roads, even here in the US I keep it down on single lane non divided highways, I've seen what can happen, I've seen accidents where the only thing left was the trunk. I posted my pic for chits and giggles...
