At least your main vehicle. If you are an enthusiasts, I'm sure you'll still have a gasser in the garage to wrench on (while paying enormous environmental fees for the privilege)
California looking to be 100% electric in the coming decades.
GM announced they will be all electric by 2035
China is pushing hard for all electric vehicles by 2030. If you want to drive a gasser, you'll pay high fees
Anyone here a contrarian to this idea? It seems like the writing is on the wall.

says everyone literally every decade, yet they pop up in your hood everyday. What are you just gonna waltz up and steal every gas car in broad daylight? They're being passed around like hotcakes every generation....ever.

Godspeed m8. Fingers crossed
I've thought about this. Mine is around $26k and a couple of years old. Since mine is on the lower side, I think I'm just going to ride it until the wheels fall off. But I'm not buying another gasser. It should give me enough time for my truck to get old and after I've wrenched on it and replaced a few things and gotten tired of paying environmental taxes, it'll only make sense to transition into whatever electrics are available at the time

I can see myself upgrading in vehicle from my '18 Camry to like a '25 sometime in 2027 or so. Perhaps sooner if there's repair issues or problems. I think by that point we'll still be on diesel primarily, or at least hybrids.
The vast majority of apartment complexes, hotels/motels, condo communities, don't have any electrical charging. If I can't charge my car at home then what's the point.i7-14700k

california can't handle the grid load of even increasing by 10% electric cars LOL
the whole thing is a complete scam
most of the electricity is coming from coal/nat gas anyway
the blood cobalt from the DRC is a constant atrocity and there simply isn't enough to make that many batteries
electric cars wear out tires much faster than gas cars, the pollution of which is worse than exhaust
the batteries are way worse to dispose of than anything in a normal vehicle
takes almost 10 years for an electric car to beat a diesel in overall efficiencyMake Europe Germany Again

hybrid buses have already become the standard, at least here.
there is the worry that current infrastructure may not support the amount of electric cars that can be on the road
however they are becoming cheaper and more affordable and they are becoming better and better in terms of efficiency and battery tech.
China has poured a chit ton of money into EV tech and are pretty much all in. I could definitely see it being the norm by 2035. life changes really fast nowadays, just look at how social media blew up since 2010.positivity brah crew

Innovate technology sells itself. People naturally adopt it because it makes their life better and reduces costs.
Agenda based technology almost always requires force and tax incentives to increase adoption rates. People resist this technology and hold out to the final moment before they are forced to adopt
Where do electric vehicles fall at this point?

"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. I was nervous as ****, but too scared to say anything to him. Then my niece started crying, and Iβm trying to quiet her down because I don't want to bother him. Pretty soon he walks over and asks what's wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry. He put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted up his shirt, and breastfed her right there in the salon. Chill guy, really nice about it."

What he said. Plus PP who mentioned a lack of charging stations.
Would also add that AFAIK the range of an electric vehicle isn't that great. Could be fine for someone who lives in a city and takes a plane when they travel longer distances, but not very practical for rural people or people who travel longer distances by car.
I'm fine with electric vehicles being an option, not a requirement. But they do need to figure out some way to make the road funding more fair (gas tax) because an electric vehicle uses a road same as a gas or diesel powered vehicle. The only way to be really fair about that would be a per mile use fee based on vehicle weight which would mean some kind of direct monitory of how far every vehicle is driven and I'm not keen on that level of government intrusion.INTP Crew

I bought the 7 year warranty on the gas propelled daily driver car I purchased last year, so figure I'll be hanging onto it for awhile. I like EV cars. I'm planning on buying one at some point. I'm not sure that they will be popular in the colder areas of the country though. When it turns cold, 50F and lower, range can be severely curtailed. I'm not sure EVs are all that green when looking at the full circle of things too. Thankfully here in the US we have good fossil fuel resources. I can see countries that do not have fossil fuel resources, such as China and parts of Europe, going entirely EV. It wouldn't bother me if they went first and worked out all the bugs with longer charging times, cold weather issues, making them more reliable, etc.
