I used to love playing some SNES games like Dr. Mario, Bomberman, and on N64 I loved among other things Mario Kart 64.
I know I could download some software and connect everything to my big screen TV etc. etc., but I'm looking for a more convenient alternative.
Is there some kind of console I can buy which emulates these games perfectly? Something that already has the controllers and everything, and I just connected the console via HDMI to my TV, and that's it?
I'd appreciate some recommendations / advice.
Thank you.

There's the SNES Classic which might be a few hundred but it's from Nintendo. You can check the games it has installed and there's probably easy ways to mod more games onto it.
For N64 there was the Allcade 64 which ran N64 games but it looks like they went out of business bc covid. The Wii U's eShop is still open I think which has a good selection of games but not the best emulation. Not sure of any of 3rd party systems you can directly buy to run these games.
The raspberry pi is something to look into, it can run all sorts of stuff, but you have to program it iirc. There's also HDMI adaptors that could connect an actual N64 or SNES to modern TV's too.

snes classic was mentioned.
N64 isn't as easy.
i'm not sure an RPI 4 is there yet. golden eye is still laggy.
I have an odroid-xu4 that will handle the most demanding games but you need to download the software, install and configure yourself.
there are rpi4 snes looking consoles on amazon, but you still need to download retropie and install your roms.
everything is basically DIY for n64 and above.
you could go to gamestop and buy a refurb n64 and pick up a "backup" n64 cartridge off ebay.
cheaper than one of those ever drives.

I think so yes, there is two emulators not sure if both are update to date but one is I believe. Those two together cover a solid amount of games and theres Virtual console injected 64 games. Some games dont work and the ones that do its perfect. Honestly don't keep that much up on it to know what games do and don't but the scene is still alive

Nvidia Shield TV. This gen or last gen, either works.
/thread
Have any of you suggesting Rasberry pi actually tried to run N64 games on it? I have. It sucks. I don't know how powerful the newer pi is but I have a Pi 3 model B and it can't run N64 to save it's life even when overclocked.
Honestly, an Nvidia Shield TV will tear through all the old console games including N64 but it's a slippery slope. You emulate one system and then you want the next gen and then the next gen until you hit a point where you need pretty decent hardware and GPU acceleration to get smooth emulation and despite the shield being a pretty powerful little unit, once you hit PS3 and Gamecube and Wii, it starts to lose steam.
I've been 100% satisfied using a SNES classic for my kid to play around with and I use my switch just for convinience and portability but if I want to play N64, I use the Shield.Sig line can't be a novel

IMO, the newer one (2019 version I believe) is the one to get. Their 4k AI upscaling is incredible if you plan to stream or watch any media on a 4k screen. I've got tons of 1080p bluray rips and playing identical files to my 4K TV on the newer shield swapping HDMI cables into the older unit without the upscaling, the difference in clarity and crispness of the image was much bigger than I expected.
It's one of those "you don't realize what you're missing or getting until you see it side by side" but I can't un-see it now and can't recommedn the previous version if you have a 4K TV. It made that big a difference on sub 4k content.
I would also not get the tube version of the new shield. It doesn't have a USB port where as the pro does. Pro lets you just pop a USB drive in and dump your ROMs to the internal storage. Otherwise, you gotta pull them from a network share (which is what I ended up doing).Sig line can't be a novel

I know I could just download 1 of like 10 diff emulators on my PC and be up and running emulating every console in the world in minutes but I want a more “convenient” option where I go and find some rare outdated 3rd party hacker hardware that barely exists and works and is near impossible to find and does a much worse more limited job.

Many many years ago when I lived in the States, I used to have a Dreamcast which had a CD full of emulated SNES games that worked perfectly.
So I'm looking for something similar that has both SNES or N64.
Even two separate consoles would do, one for SNES and the other for N64. I really just need a couple of games: Dr. Mario (SNES), Bomberman (SNES), Mario Kart 64 (N64)
It'd also be nice to have ALL the Bombermans for SNES. Looking for the simplest solution to play them on my TV.
Another thing I hate is configuring joysticks/controllers. Wish there was a shortcut where I could just plug it in and don't have to program shyt.
