i don't think we have a major conservative news network either (phucking lol at CBC and Global news being our major sources of news). PPC is probably the closest thing to them but Bernier got stomped in his own hometown lmao and the media painted him as a far-right racist so the tour was over for him before it even began. conservative party in canada are basically the equivalent of the RINOs in america. they seriously lack any backbone or any balls, cave in to the liberal party demands and every accusation laid against them. while the liberals will double down and defend their own to the ends of the earth until they outlive their usefulness, then toss them like trash. basically the liberal party are corrupt pieces of chit and the conservative party lack the balls to do anything, lack an identity and cave in to any accusations of racism, sexism or what ever is the outrage of the month.

The most normal people here are hard leaning Liberals who are 100% focused on quality of life for immigrants / new arrivals. And they are bent on bringing more of them over here.
They also are concerned with sexism and past racist bullchit like the treatment of Indians.
Go to a school and that's all the teachers talk about. They have safe rooms for the trannies and they have the tranny flag flying all over the place and placed on entrances to schools.

Was conservatism ever a thing in Canada? One of my family members married a Canadian and moved to Toronto in the early 90s. She said even back then the Conservative party would be considered Democrats in America. We’re from New York for context, so not far right wingers at all.

I don't think the conservative party will win another election in a long long time. Last time was their best shot as all the negative press was towards Trudeau and they got close but still lost. Now the liberals have a pretty high approval rating and conservatives have nothing going for them. Erin otoole is a pretty boring, centrist candidate who doesn't bring anything exciting to the table. Their best hope is for the NDP party to gain more popularity so it could take away votes from libs.

Conservatives in Canada are very tepid on most issues, as you pointed out in the op. I never really payed attention to politics in my teens and early twenties but I’m pretty confident in agreeing that there never really were conservatives in Canada to begin.

Also if someone came out with a platform that was actually conservative they’d get demolished since it’s basically 4 on 1 at that point. Bernier is still not super conservative if you look at other countries around the world like Hungary and Poland. Those are actual conservative countries.

to be fair that's both democrats and republicans. both parties have their corporate backings and unions, i.e democrats have school unions that they buy into and are against chartered schooling, despite studies showing children do better in those schools. being so lax on immigration laws is basically telling wage-cels to phuck off as well as chit like blanket minimum wage increases.

Conservatives will not win any time soon unless Trudeau really chokes his 6 point polling leads because most people are scared of American conservatism and the CPC isn't really going out of it's way to disavow those elements in the party.
