Light truck = towing capacity under 5,000 lbs. These tow from 3,500 - 5,000 lbs.
Both can last 300k - 400k miles. Both can be had for the same price (low 30's).

They both generally serve the same purpose. Towing capacity, cargo capacity. Yes, an SUV is technically not a truck. But the Tacoma is also a quasi-truck with 5,000 lbs towing capability. That's why they're truck-lites.
The Lexus is a classier, more luxurious ride without the tradie stigma.
The Toyota is slightly more rugged and sits a tiny bit higher. Still not a real truck though.

Only one truck there.
The Tacoma is a great vehicle. Very good looking and last forever.
But honestly there isn't much advantage to getting a Light Truck over a 1/2 ton.
They get about the same gas mileage.I call my cawk Baby Yoda. Cause the whole world loves it.

-You're an idiot.
- The tacoma is the best light duty truck on the market.
- They don't serve even close to the same purpose.
- Tacoma towing isn't 5K.
- A light truck is defined by vehicle weight and payload capacity, not towing.
The tacoma has like 30" longer wheelbase and can tow nearly twice as much (3.5k vs. 6.4-6.8K depending on tacoma package). Not to mention you can't fit nearly as much **** in the back of an SUV as you can in the back of a truck, even with a small bed.
Literally everything you've said is just wrong.**Georgia Crew**

I listed a range. You pointed to the top end of the Toyota's range, which a lot of people aren't using in a light truck. You also ignored the top end of the Lexus' range (better looks, tech, exclusivity, and non-tradie stigma). They're in the towing class I listed, 3500-5500 towing capacity. People can vote on what they'd rather drive. There's tradeoffs, it isn't a towing dink measuring competition.

New tacomas with the tow package can tow up to 6800, though i'd venture to guess most wouldn't feel comfortable towing over 5k
I would choose the Tacoma. less flashy, better resale, more capability
that being said, your Lyft drivers will appreciate the creature comforts of the Lexus"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. I was nervous as ****, but too scared to say anything to him. Then my niece started crying, and I’m trying to quiet her down because I don't want to bother him. Pretty soon he walks over and asks what's wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry. He put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted up his shirt, and breastfed her right there in the salon. Chill guy, really nice about it."
