    Dumb question

Hey guys I was recently eating 1500 calories a day however due to muscle loss and not feeling to well plus injuries. I have to up my calories, my doctor says I should eat more but keep it clean.

However, I have recently gained water weight from eating bad over easter weekend. So I jumped up to 179 I know its water weight but should I wait to up calories till after I reach 172 again?

Also Im not looking to be muscle bound however I do want to be able to maintain this weight and get my strength back. I also want to shed my belly fat.

Is there a way this can be done? Height 5’8

Age 24 this just in case anyone ask

Listen to the doctor....and just about everyone on this forum over the last week. Yes increase them today, the water weight will figure itself out over a week or so.

Do you know a calorie mark I should look for to get stronger? But maintain my weight?

Going to take some trial and error. Start with ~2000 and give it like 3 weeks to let the water weight stop confounding things. After that see what your weights doing and add or subtract calories until you get to a spot where its staying around the same averaged week over week.

This. Just trial and error. Increase calories a bit, see give it 2-3 weeks. Watch the scale and body composition (look in the mirror) and adjust as needed.

this is why we originally kept recommending you to eat more than 1100 calories, then more than 1200-1300, now more than 1500

If you stick to 1500 calories and incorporate weights + cardio you'll lose the belly fat and still grow

Op how much did you weigh when you started? How long were you on 1500 calories or less? How much weight did you lose and in what amount of time?

170 at 5’8 I find it hard to see a nutritional deficiency happening, unless your literally eating like no fruits, veggies or protein. And if you were losing significant amounts of weight too quickly. Like the women on biggest loser actually have a lot of health issues dropping weight that aggressively, like losing their period, hair falling out, bad nails/skin/hair, and anemia

5-6 lbs a week for 3 months ya you lost weight wayyyyyyy to quick and definitely lost muscle plus probably wreaked your blood work. I’m not surprised your doctor wanted you to up the calories. I would be pretty malnourished after 3 months of 900 calories a day and would be deathly thin
