Hey guys, vegetarian guy here trying to get my protein. Is eating 2 cups of legumes safe? By 2 cups i mean uncooked 2 cups and even more after cooking. This includes a mix of green, black, yellow and every color beans and lentils available in grocery store except soya. I make it's soup with 1 tbsp vegetable oil and onions and just eat it. Tastes ok enough that I am able to finish it almost.
Will so much legumes increase estrogen? Any suggestions? I am working on serious body building. Thank you

I do have other sources of protein:
Morning I drink a mix of whey + greek yogurt + milk ~ 45 gms of protein
I eat 1 protein bar in afternoon ~ 10 gms
lunch is usually a chipotle or Mediterranean bowl ~ 10-15 gms
before bed I take some casein with milk ~ 25 gms
so this all sums up roughly to 90-100 gms
1 cup of legume = 18 gms
2 cups = ~30 gms (difficult to finish all of it)
so total protein ~ 120 gms

Currently I weigh 144 pounds, I am 5'7". I am targeting 160 pounds but from last few weeks I am not gaining much. I was trying to eat more wheat bread to gain faster but it all went towards carbs and fats so I started cutting and dropped to 140 pounds. Then I started lean bulking which isnt taking me anywhere so far.

you need to be eating more. Plain and simple. I’m vegetarian and have been for decades and have no issues getting in enough calories and protein. Try more nutritionally dense foods. There are 100’s of sources of vegetarian proteins and really you only need say 120 grams if even. And at a very minimum at 144lbs 100 grams a day

If you're going to eat 2 cups of beans literally every single day, why not come up with diff easy recipes for some variety that taste better than ok and that you might find easier to finish? For ex, pretty easy to make a huge batch of chili and store it in portions in the fridge and freezer. Just a suggestion.

Good news for you, 1 cup of raw lentils is 192 gram and contains 49.5 gram protein.

Won't increase estrogen. If you're a young healthy male eating whole foods and in good shape your hormones will be fin. Forget about test boosting bull****. Yes it is perfectly fine to get protein from legumes as long as they sit well with your stomach. One could argue they're not bioavailable enough but I think you should be good. Try getting a good chunk of your protein from whey, other dairy products and eggs proviing they also sit well with your stomach.
