If you are a skyrim fan its worth it in VR with the 2017 mods. Its not as smooth as half life because its basically just the regular game converted, but its awesome to run around skyrim in VR.

flight sims are alot of fun.

elite dangerous is fun in VR.

Agreed with OP though can't play pancake anymore.
    To add to this:

No Man's Sky - Personally not a big fan of NMS, but the VR is pretty cool.

Thrill of the Fight - Boxing sim that gets you winded fast. Took me a week to beat my first opponent because I kept running out of gas.

Pistol Whip - Superhot-like rhythm game, TONS of fun. Killer shoulder workout.

TWD - Haven't played a ton of it, but it's a very polished zombie experience.

And the GOAT: Beat Saber. Nothing beats it or even matches it in VR. I play it daily.

I am no good at beat saber but its fun. right now I am consumed with Elite Dangerous in VR and just don't have time to play much else.

I did smack my dog in the face with a controller playing beat saber though.

Oh and Project Cars 3 racing game is pretty dang fun in VR too.

Between Elite Dangerous, X-Plane, MS Flight 2020 (now in VR), racing games, Half Life, Skyrim, Beat Saber, Super Hot, etc...not enough time in the day.

edit: holy chit at that video.

I'm waiting for Sony to release a wireless PSVR2, then I'll be on board. I've already tried and original PSVR and liked it a lot, just needs to be wireless.

I got PSVR and it's okay I guess, kinda interesting but if it has accomplished anything that is making it so I no longer give a chit about VR. Maybe some day when they REALLY got it down, but for a while it's just not the way I will seek out my entertainment.

You're smoking crack. I haven't tried the Rift, but PSVR and the Oculus Quest are crazy immersive. I played Resident Evil 7 on the psvr and it's crazy how good it is. Played Firewall Zero Hour which is like a Rainbow 6 tactical shooter and it was mind blowing realistic. It feels like you're standing by real people in real life.

And the Trolling potential in VR is off the charts, I haven't experienced or seen any yet, but it will make or break you. Things feel much more personal. If i get in your face in VR, it's gonna feel like I'm in your face for real.

I have nothing bad to say about PSVR outside of having to deal with several connections. The main issue with PSVR is that it's wired. Once they go wireless and utilize the PS5 power it'll be great.

They're starting to use it in the Construction field too. Hell, imagine searching for houses online with a vr option. You can inspect the home right in your chair.

Well it is kind of a gimmicky nerd thing right now. It just requires a ton of specialized equipment and a lot of dedication, and the effects of VR gaming definitely isn't the sort of thing that is going to agree with everybody. It's sort of the same way it was in the past, more accessible but still not where it needs to be to really work easily for most people. It's no wonder why you can only find nerds on the internet who are passionate about it.

that's why the quest 2 is so good. requires no set up other than doing a quick guardian/play area tracing thing. no base stations, no wires, no high end PC required (you can hook it up to a PC via a cable or using virtual desktop+wifi tho), all you need is the headset and controllers. plus, it's only $300 for the base model so it's absolutely accessible and much easier to use than gen 1 headsets

Yeah they are starting to get there, but it still needs some time and work before it's something I could see most people easily embracing.

Basically your own private VR cinema, invite your mates in, and the host can play movies, Netflix, etc. on the cinema screen, it's totally synced for everyone. The sense of scale is the same as real life in terms of the cinema/screen, etc. + having local chat, sitting in cushy seats next to friends and talking chit while watching a movie/show together is great.

Has become our go to "game" now just because it's so easy to jump on and "hang out" in a way when everyone's lives are busy and interrupted. Recline in my pc chair, headset on, be at the movies with friends instantly and crack a beer irl... great experience.

I'm more excited for this chit in regards to VR than I am with any gaming. VR has so much potential outside of gaming.

Not really man, my Quest 2 plays wirelessly stand alone, or tethered to PC with a simple USB 3 cable. No cameras or wires and chit going all over my room, just plug and play basically. A few of my PC newbie friends picked them up and we've been having a blast.

If I had no friends with it though I'd never use it to be fair lol. It's amazing for social/multiplayer with people you know + a few drinks.

No game beats the fun of chilling with friends watching movies in VR. No need to go outside anymore.... lol.

Well enjoy your long nap boyo, that's a pretty specific request.

But yea, VR is nuts. Superhot is crazy fun, the walking dead is great, and if you've got the pc to run it, Half Life is another level. Hell, just a simple zombie shooting game like Drop Dead Dual Strike multiplayer is fun as chit.

Been waiting for it to be better. I played half life alyx on the index on a pretty beefy computer and it was great, very very immersive. It still felt kind of janky though you know, like grabbing things was derpy. I lost my balance a few times due to the way motion was handled. I think there needs to be a full locomotion/stop system for VR to really take off. The omni-directional treadmill is a good direction. The problem I am seeing is VR that incorporates full body movement requires very complex rigging that could only be feasible in a commercial setting. VR themeparks maybe? The Void in Utah tried/is trying to do something like that.
It is not so much the major events as the small day-to-day decisions that map the course of our living. . . Our lives are, in reality, the sum total of our seemingly unimportant decisions and of our capacity to live by those decisions. ― Gordon B. Hinckley

On Alyx after a few days I got very natural at the grabbing stuff.

For me I reset the movement to actual walking/running instead of the teleporting because agreed that type of motion was not realistic.

Been watching a lot of netflix on my quest 2. Pretty cool having basically a cinema sized display, and the quality is decent enough for me.

Also starting a cut again and beat saber is a pretty good supplement. Theres a calorie tracker that isn't too accurate, but you can definitely tell you are getting some exercise in. Basically a week in so far putting in about an hour or two, and im getting pretty good pretty quick. Fun way to burn some calories whenever. Interested in seeing where i might be three months from now if i keep it up.

Unfortunately I don't have any friends with one yet so I havent been able to get the full vr experience. Mainly just netflix and beatsaber is all I have really got to experience, and its definitely been worth the money so far.
