Libs are the actual fascists. This should decided at that state level. Ridiculous abuse of federal power.

It should be a local issue. If people want a higher minimum wage then vote for a governor that will mandate that. It seems like Americans have the same issue as Canadians where they dont pay any attention to local elections and want everything done at a federal level. Federal government shouldnt really be dealing with local issues. The only logic I can see is if one state raises the minimum wage and the states around them dont they could possibly lose people to that state. But really people arent gonna be moving for a slightly higher minimum wage job. If that becomes an issue then they can also raise their minimum wage to become competitive. Maybe someone else has a better idea why the federal government should get involved but it doesnt make sense to me.

Small businesses are dying, so raise corp taxes and wages to cripple them further.
So, the 1 Million+ jobs lost IMO is a low figure.
Dems are anti-business, but raising the minimum wage looks good politically. The jobs lost will be blamed on Trump somehow.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

yes, Trump answered this.
he said it has to be looked at state by state basis. but the autistic dems think that is unfair.
you can't just do it on a national level.
why not just up it to 100$. they pluck 15 out of their asses. if the business can't cope, than that is their problem, right? that is what the prick above wroteSubjecting yourself to self imposed discipline is the surest way to increase the quality of your existence

mcdonalds already pays minimum wage everywhere but the US
imagine demanding to be cucked by your corporate overlords jfl
i think minimum wage should have an exception aka be a bit less but enough for the employees to survive for small business
i have ran small and medium sized businesses all my adult life, if you cannot afford to pay $12-15 wages than your business is not gonna survive either way, timer for some new ideas

If they initially only bump it to $10 and then $1 a year over 5 years it shouldn't be that bad.
True. Some of this is due to computers/automation and some is just cutting corners and providing a lower level of service to customers.
In the early 80s a newer discount grocer opened up in our area bragging that they had lower prices because you sacked your own groceries. At that time here the standard was to have a cashier and baggers who would pack your order and take it out to your car for you, then return the shopping cart to the store. The supermarket where I was a cashier around '90 was still like that.
Now the customer is expected to check out their own grocery order or wait in line for the one or two counters that actually are staffed by a cashier. And I haven't had anyone wheel my groceries out and load them in my car since around 2007.
Both of those jobs are actually pretty bad. Nursing home is the worst of the two though.INTP Crew

I can tell you right now, grocery store checkers and baggers should NOT get raises. Their productivity 1/2 as when I was one 20 years ago. It's so friggin annoying.
Also, when I was 16 and working in fast food, if a car took more than 90 seconds to get their food once they paid, we were torn a new *******.
Basically, everything in this world EXCEPT customer service has gotten better and more efficient, and they are the ones they want to give raises to?

I think that is partly on employers though. When I was a cashier we had to do a "produce test" before each shift- there were items in the back of produce and you had to list the produce codes. We were rated for speed and accuracy too. Not sure if I have my old 99% Accuracy badges.
The places that have self-checkout? Mostly don't seem to care if their cashiers are good at their job. If the line is long/slow then that just trains customers to use the self-checkout more.
If the pay rate goes up maybe they will attract some better workers. Chic-fil-a is kind of known for that. In And Out too.
ETA: Seems we have been trained to accept less and poorer service in general to the benefit of the corporate bottom line. See: automated phone systems. If there aren't many competitors in the market and they all provide basically the same low level of service then you don't have much choice. Consumers did contribute though by making price the main factor in their purchasing decisions.INTP Crew

Imagine a country, where crony capitalist mega-billionaires and their multi-national banks and companies are given corporate welfare while hard-working small businesses are shut down permanently or milked dry.
You don't have to imagine. That country is America.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω
