I think coffee is probably as bad or worse than soda. The main thing when I talk to people about their eating habits when they want to lose weight is they are willing to give up snacks, alcohol, bread, almost anything but NEVER their favorite coffee drink that is loaded with cream, sugar, caramel, and God knows what else.

the truth is that the obese are fat because they're combining soda with a very high fat diet. without the latter, you're not gonna get fat

the conversion rate of carbs to fat never exceeds like 5%, even at like 500g a day srs (but it obviously decreases fat burning like ethanol does)

to be fair we live in a society of instant gratification, everything is literally there at our fingertips, an over-abundance of food, indulgence in anything possible, over-consumption, etc. Even poor people are obese.


Food is one part of the equation, also have to factor in exercise, which people are getting less and less of with all this technology and social media to pass the time.
