My car is dead in front of the gym. It’s parked facing up a hill. Can I pop the clutch to start it in reverse?

I used to to do all the time. Especially when alone, it's easier for you to pull it back and jump in. The gear ratio is better than 1st gr.

I plan on keeping my vehicles for a long time, I wouldn't do that. But it can work. Its just a lot more torque on the drive line than it ever sees under normal conditions. It'll probably be ok. If it was me, I'd somehow go get a battery (call a friend or whatever) or get a jumpstart. You have to dump the clutch for it to work, and that's hard on the transmission
