I can see being lazy and you need to get out the door and stop on the way to work, but what I don't understand is when there's a line around the building at 8pm on a Sunday night.

lol wut? Do you even coffee!?
All you need is 203 deg water to brew coffee.
THIS is better than coffee shop coffee, which I use at work, and its only $6.00.
I use the hamilton at home because I don't have 203 deg water on tap, like at work.

I remember an old episode of the Simpsons where Bart was walking down the street toward some store he intended to go into, and every single store he walked past was a Starbucks. He goes into the store and asks the clerk for something and the clerk says “Make it quick, kid. In 5 minutes this place is turning into a Starbucks.”
At that time (probably close to 30 years ago already) I had no clue what the hell Starbucks even was. But the show was clearly making fun of the uprising of coffee shops (or predicting it, as the Simpsons are notorious for doing)7 foot tall crew checking in

Basically they're either rich or bad with money.
I couldn't imagine driving to a fukking starbucks every day, waiting in line at the drive through, handing over $4 to some overweight cashier, then making your way back to your commute.
That's the exact opposite of convenience. If you want convenience, make some instant coffee at home or better yet, pop a caffeine pill*Mechanical Engineering Crew*

I have a barista machine at home, we’ve gotten pretty good at making cappuccino but still not as good as some of the better coffee shops that I go to.
I go out for coffee about 4x a week, it’s just a change of scenery, like going out for food. I rarely go to Starbucks though, I find their cappuccinos just taste of milk.
It’s probably a poor habit financially, no reason for it. But tbh, there’s not much to do. You can stay at home and watch a show, do some work, play games or you can go out. And when you’re out, if you want to chill somewhere, the options really only are sitting in a park or a nice coffee shop.
