I'm not sticking up for Kyrie and Harden, IMO they're cancerous.

However, what's with the NBA and the media "investigating" and possibly seeking out punishments for seeing videos of these guys not wearing a mask? Kyrie seen at a FAMILY birthday part without a mask and it's being investigated... WTF? Last I checked it's a free country and these are adults partaking in events within their private lives... So what if someone is at a family even without a mask? So what if Harden is at a strip club? Yes, they're under contract and work for the NBA but since when has all this been an issue? If anything, you can call the NBA racist for this type of treatment towards the players. Who owns who? We've heard NBA players saying they don't like the term "owners" in reference to the owners of the team as that's reminiscent to slave ownership... Seems like the NBA is owning and treating them as such.

Aside from that, why would they put these guys on blast like that?

Having superstars that ignore rules that a majority of the fanbase are subject to is not good for the nba's image. They already lost a ton of viewers with the blm chit, now all that's left are liberals and teens, and they all hate covid rulebreakers.
Just check out the nba reddit, they're all mad that the commissioner isn't handing out harsher punishments.

Also all the other players are supposedly following the protocols, so they don't find it fair that superstars get to break protocol and cause game cancellations.

but if you look at it from the NBA standpoint, they want to be able to put on as many games as possible for revenue and it is also for the optics. if one person catches covid and then half the team tests positive suddenly they won't be able to play the scheduled games. they want to avoid these scenarios as much as possible.

from the optics standpoint, others may look at it like "the NBA isn't doing enough to ensure safety for their players and aren't doing their part to fight the virus". so they reprimand the players the players and "investigate" the videos for any potential violations of health and safety and dole out punishments.
