I just read that it has been 50 years since that gem of a show first aired. Doesn't seem like that long. Loved the sitcoms back in the day. Can't remember the last time I watched a sitcom. I think I watched every episode of mash at least twice.

lettuce not forget the inclusion of the Jefferson's and Sammy Davis Jr. in that show.
I don't think a show like that can be made nowadays given the discriminatory practices of Archie Bunker. Imo, that is irony because his highlighted bigotry usually served to point out how stupid hatred based off of skin color and religiosity is.
and I always felt sorry for Edith.
M*A*SH is worthy of its own thread. I laughed, loved, and cried watching it.

I loved watching reruns of All in the Family as a kid. Archie reminded me of my grandfather.
Could you imagine if they tried to air a show like that today?Age: 42

Not ironic. That was the whole point of the show. Norman Lear was a left activist.
I always hated that show. Not because of the political/social agenda, I was a little kid without any formulated ideas on such things. It just seemed like fingernails on the blackboard to me. It was super popular, so I was greatly outnumbered by fans.

Yeah, when it comes to the whole "classic TV" thing, Barney Miller gets overlooked a lot. The writing and acting is top notch especially for a series that was set almost entirely in two rooms and focuses on the detectives' personal interactions and paperwork.
I liked Dietrich. The bassline opening was classic."it's likely one of us will have to spend some days alone"

They’ve done a live episode with Woody Harrelson as Archie and Jamie Fox as George Jefferson a couple years ago.

When I was in college I owned most of the books, as well as a bunch of Stephen King novels, I would read them over and over. People would ask what I was studying and get all weird when I said I was reading for pleasure. Sorry Stacey, that's what I could afford for fun. Read Godfather 4 times and The Stand 6 times.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
