Why Are 10+ y/o Wrangles So Cheap? (Apart From the Obvious)

The obvious being they are rich chicks cars who dont maintain them and dont know how to drive them - paid for by daddy.

I mean to ask, are there major problems that creep up in older Wranglers inherent to just being Wranglers and irrespective of being driven by idiots?

Because they are a status car just like Mercedes or Jaguar. There is no status in driving an old car (with a few exceptions).

Compare that to a car which is built with a purpose in mind, like a Corolla or F-150. Utility cars hold their value very well.

Uhh. where are you finding ten year old wranglers for cheap? They hold there values better then any other car practically. I have owned 3 jeeps. Never lost money on any of them....

Consistently finding 06-08 Wranglers on Marketplace for 8k. Sometimes less.

This is in Australia by the way. That's a pretty good price here.

it is the complete opposite here in the states. they hold value as well as anything on the road, srs.

i've known a few people who have owned wranglers and the story seems to go that they age poorly but you love it so much you just fix what's wrong and keep going. they are also usually cheap to repair.

personally i find them fun but under powered especially the 4-door, despite the v6 in it. put a hemi in one and it'd be amazing.

Wranglers here is USA hold their value more than seemingly any other car it's ridiculous. Tried to find a used one awhile ago just as a fun weekend car, but jeeze they cost almost as much as brand new ones.

My dad has a 2017 JKU Rubicon with about 50k miles and the dealer he bought it from offered him 37k for it. He paid 40k brand new. So crazy

My bro bought a 2013 wrangler, as base as it gets for 18k with 78k miles... He just sold it to carvana after 2.5 years for 16k with 98k miles. He scooped up a G wagon.. Add that to overpriced, unnecessarily holding value because it's a show off car.

I really don't understand why. These aren't hard vehicles to find, every Jeep / Toyota lot is full of them... yet so many people are willing to buy used ones for barely under MSRP.

I'm a toyota truck guy, but IMO tacomas are retarded. A good boy's goody two shoes truck. For some reason dealers in my area are completely sold out of tundras/tacomas and 4runners. It's a sellers market, the dealerships have all the leverage now.

Just sold my off-road toy

2008 JKU with a 3.5" lift and 35's for 16K. (127K on the car, 20k on new crate stock engine)

I'd say that held value pretty well. Just bought a new 2021 JLUSS Wrangler pretty much fully loaded up to use for light off-roading/road trips for 50K out the door. (I didnt want the Rubicon) I will probably be able to sell it for around 38-39K in 4-5 years. That's much better than most vehicles. Jeep doesnt saturate the market with Wranglers, which is why you rarely see the same rebates as the other models like Compass, Renegade, Grand Cherokee, etc.. because Jeep knows that the Wranglers will hold value if they control the supply. Being one of the most modified vehicles ever + ability to DD + ability to off-road makes it super versatile.

people buying/trading in used cars from dealerships has ruined the used car market. since 99% of people do this now dealerships have complete control of the used car prices. its not just jeeps, used cars have risen like crazy in the last 10 years. i havent seen a car with a for sale sign in 3+ years. we have cucked ourselves.
