WTF MTPockets look like???

Still great eating size though. The trout we stock in my lakes in the fall (rainbows/browns) are usually no bigger than 3-5lbs. They should be edible by now. I have caught them before a week or so after they were stocked and they still tasted like dog food or whatever pellets the fish farm fed them (they were gross). Then I caught some the following spring and they were really good after living in the spring fed water and eating a more natural diet.

Ice here is dangerous. We haven't had a good 3 days or so of cold weather. It gets down to the 20s then goes back up just above freezing. Every decade or so you will get a nice calm and cold stretch and the ice freezes clear and you can find snapping turtles stacked on top of them on springs in small lakes near the bank. Break a hole in the ice and just pull them out, they are so dormant they don't even swim away. I don't eat them anymore though because they are full of PCBs, mercury etc due to age/biomagnification

Correct you are, I don't keep many fish, ate so much fish growing up the sea gulls followed me to school but when I want a meal 3- 5 lbs are the size I keep. Fillets aren't too thick and less contaminants. I release 99% if possible, some you just can't because of a deep hook. Yeah those hatchery fish can be nasty, I find them taste like liver lol, if I get any with fin clips and have to keep it I throw them in the smoker.

The ice isn't good in my area, have about 4-6 inches, but got a good dumping of snow on top, making it heavy and slushing up. I hear ya on the contaminants, that's another reason to eat the smaller ones that are younger. I don't know much about Snappers other than they destroy my minnow traps.

I am afraid you might be a bit disappointed as I don’t have a large punk rock mural covering the majority of my back. I have two fairly small tattoos honoring two friends that passed away a long time ago. While not the most extravagant artwork each piece has its own meaning to me, tied to a memory of two my closest friends.
