https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...-debt-one-termBefore Trump took office, he railed against the debt. Shortly before winning the White House, he likened its high level to a “time bomb.”
“I will tell you, we are sitting on a time bomb,” he told CBS in June 2016, adding that “I don’t like debt for the country.”
Trump in 2016 vowed to eliminate the federal debt over an eight-year period. At the time, the federal government's debt was over $19 trillion, and most economists thought Trump's pledge ludicrous.
To Capretta, Trump’s actions have been fiscally reckless.
“Trump saw that it would be to his political advantage to be very liberal in terms of spending and tax reductions happening simultaneously,” he said.
Another false promise. Death and debt will be Trump's legacy.

"In his first year of entering office, Trump signed into law a tax overhaul bill that added $1.9 trillion to the debt over a 10-year period, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the bookkeeper for Congress.
He also increased annual spending, by nearly $800 billion, from $3.85 trillion in 2016 to $4.65 trillion in 2020 (before pandemic relief), according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan organization that examines the spending habits in Washington."

It takes more than just Drumpf to pull this off. Entire establishment needs to be erradicated. No more "voting in one or two people" when these sellouts take the brunt of the blame for something. Moving one or two chess pieces isn't going to solve the entire game. We need to oust everyone, top-to-bottom.

Trump was a catastrophic failure fiscally and in no way a conservative. His spending was just as bad as Obama’s if not worse.
Once COVID hit he went full corporate socialist.
He fooled people such as myself into voting for him with his false debt reduction mantra. There was no point in voting between two sets of left-leaning presidential candidates a second time.Trump/DeSantis 2024

You apparently have a lot of trouble with timelines. The 2018-2019 shutdown mostly occurred after the Democrats retook the House in the 2018 mid-terms. So, other than a few days, the Republicans did NOT have control of both houses of Congress. So yes, I did think about it but you are clearly struggling.
