    Happy New Years do you have any fitness goals for 2021?

    I would like to achieve some things this year.

    1. Pull-ups. I have noticed that pull-ups do not tax my body at all, even if I do 100 a day so that is one reason I'd like to master my pull-up game.
    Now I can do 12. Goal:17

    2. DL 235lbs. (not sure about this as gyms have been closed since March).

    3. Middle split (not gon happen cos bride of Frankenstein no flexibility)

    4. To do IF consistently at least ten months. (Allowed to have only few days off in a month)

    5. Scale show 117lbs at least once. (Has not happened since 2014).

    Yes, many.
    I’ve been slacking since the beginning of COVID. The last two weeks I’ve done nothing but eat garbage and rot. I need to get back after it. Garage gym sucks, so I plan to go back to park district and I guess wear a muzzle for awhile. Started back to keto today, that will help with dieting. It’s freezing raining here today, gym is closed, so the only activity I’ve done is wandering around a store looking at kitchen flooring and garage insulation & drywall. Plenty of projects I could be doing but instead I’m typing a word salad ITT about “goals” lol. But it’s 2021 and I should be more optimistic I suppose.

    I'd like to get to a 225 bench, 405 deadlift and get under 15% bodyfat. This will all happed if I do the most important thing, stay with it.

    I'd like to gain 3-4 pounds of muscle. Possibly cut a percent or two of BF as well.

    My ultimate goal is to get as close to 200 as possible at 15 percent BF (at 180 lbs/19 percent BF now.)

    I'd like to take a stab at making it through a year without a prolonged cut and maintaining a tighter body fat range. Call it what you will - gaintain, maingain, etc. Instead of oscillating through extended bulk and cut cycles that swing between 15-20 pounds and 6-8% body fat, I want to try and keep the window of variance to maybe 10 pounds or less of weight gain and body fat fluctuation to about 4% (ideally sitting between 8-12% bf). Basically gain at about half the rate and mini-cut when desired. While it's probably less optimal than a more aggressive bulk/cut cycle, I'm at a point where I feel good about myself and not in a rush to gain whatever potential I have left in the shortest time possible. I want to keep this general level of leanness and build on it slowly year round.

    It's a solid strategy. I've never been fan of bulk cycles as to me it was just another way to say "getting fat". You can maingain just fine throughout your lifting career without have to scramble to lose the excess weight you've been packing on after several months.

    You're obviously an experienced lifter and probably have a solid diet dialed in at this point without the unnecessary excess.

    Really got into running again in March with COVID, so this year shooting for a 1:30 half marathon. Need to trim about 70 seconds off my PB to hit that. Lofty goal for that is a 1:25. Thought about but not sure if I want to attempt a marathon.

    Lifting related I would like to shoot for a 3x BW deadlift and a BW OHP. No real huge squat or bench goals other than keep getting better.

    Thanks. For me personally, going through the traditional bulk and cut cycles were probably a necessary journey. I had to break free of the fear of gaining some fat and also just learn to trust the process. It has also indeed helped me to dial in my diet and I know myself extremely well now. One thing I did this past year during my cut is take diet breaks where I would eat at maintenance. It helped me immensely when coming out of my cut because: 1) I finished my cut without any major cravings or temptation to binge. 2) I got a few cracks at figuring out what maintenance looks like before needing to go back to maintenance for good. After my cut I was able to hold my weight for 6 weeks and not feel hungry. It gives me hope for setting myself up for a nice maingain run.

    I have been running also but I know that I can't/want to progress after certain point so I didn't make any running goals, even though I think I could do a halfer. Def not a marathon. Now I just run 3 - 4 miles and that's it, maybe 4 times a week. 3 miles takes about 33 minutes.

    Would like to start a cut, but gyms have closed again so my goals are kind of on hold. I spent most of 2020 at maintenance.

    I think my goal at the moment is to muster the motivation to continue with bodyweight exercises until the gym reopens.

    Pull ups +40kg 5 reps

    Squat 160kg 5 reps

    Get to and maintain 12% body fat

    Run 10k in under 50 minutes

    Make as much progress as possible toward front and middle splits

    I just got my workout in. The dog was chasing me around the house. He got really mad about the “roundies” L shaped wall separating living room, dinning room, and kitchen and I’d keep circling it he’d double back I’d change direction etc.

    I just got home from there and it was empty, maybe 20 young guys and 5 women in a huge space so it was my best workout of the year so far.
    As for goals, just to go 3 times per week , during the covid period, and do some things outside to avoid stale air.
    I really hate the masks and really need to work out optimally without one.
