Yeah, I think there needs to be a better term. I use Desi to describe South Asians, and Asian to describe South East and East Asians.

Chinese, Japanese and Koreans are typically referred to as 'Oriental' or just stereotypical 'Chinese' since many Brits can't tell the difference.

There's not many Orientals in the UK except for students and the UK has a large South Asian population who's families has been here since the 50's and 60's.
