    Does Skiing work chest/push muscles?

Skiing is definitely a leg workout, back too for stabilization (lats are sore). But I'm wondering if I should be hitting the gym for a few sets of bench / flies, bc my chest doesn't seem sore at all. Do you guys think skiing is enough of a workout to maintain chest? Ik pectoralis is involved in a lot of stabilization (for example you can definitely feel chest doing pullups)

If you’re getting a chest workout from skiing then you’re not doing it right.

Umm do you mean water skiing? If so, like the person said above me, you aren’t doing it right if you are working your chest lol. Your chest and triceps are pretty much doing nothing while skiing. Skiing hits everything but the pushing muscles (the shoulders kinda get hit but not a ton).

Maybe if you're an awful skier and spend the entire day pushing yourself up off the ground, thats the only way your chest is getting worked on the slopes.
All it takes is consistency, effort, proper nutrition, good programming, and TIME.

Don't be upset with the results you didn't get from the work you did not do.

My next question would be: does it really matter? You seem concerned about losing your gains based on the comment about getting some chest work in, but unless you’re on a truly epic ski trip of the sort to make me hate and obsessively red rep you for eternity, you’re probably only missing out a week of the gym, and not in danger of losing anything...

I've been in and out of the gym for a while, it's just something I was curious about

Skiing seems more an overall posterior coordination effort.

Chest exercises are good to balance out the monotonous conditions that the endurance activity puts on the posterior support system.

It's not really, just lower body and some core. You'll get some arm action from pushing yourself around the base area through liftlines and to the waffle hut, but not much else for upper body assuming you ski with some minor level of efficiency.

Basically I was thinking more this in terms of movement pattern:

He did say his lats are sore.

That's why I replied to OP as I did above. Your arms aren't an active player in the process, gravity is.
