well Canada is a little different cuz your taxes are a little higher and your prescriptions are cheaper so of course you have more money to give citizens, its apples to oranges. plus your whole top half is arctic so you could always sell the top of the country if you fell on hard times. also socialism isnt banned there so that frees up your government to provide more money without a constitutional amendment.

No, you’re not understanding how this works. This money is not coming from taxes, they are literally creating money and distributing it out. The law of supply demand says if there is excess supply (dollars in this case) then it’s value will be less.

The US government brings in about $4 trillion a year in taxes and tariffs. It then spends $4.5 trillion, so it’s always in a deficit. There is no savings account where our excess tax dollars go because there aren’t any excess dollars to save. So in order to “give” our this stimulus, they have to create money.
