I wonder what would happen if our govt all of a sudden said "the virus has ended, it mutated and is no longer a threat".....despite the virus still being here. Which is probably something like they are doing in China now.

I have a feeling many of the people in the hospital for covid, or people that get sick in the future with cold like symptoms, would start treating this as just that....a cold. Hospitals would empty. People would go back to work. Life goes on as normal. If you get sick you stay home in bed until you recover.

It would be the same as if covid was just a normal flu/cold and there was never any mass hysteria or panic. I really think it has become a self fulfilling prophecy at this point where people are feeling even a little sick, as in normal in the winter, and panicking and rushing to the doctors or hospital.

Our death rate and overall deaths for 2020 is up only slightly compared to any other year, and mainly all in the age 75 and above demographic....which is all you need to know about what is really going on.

And remember our population is older, and you have deaths from a rise in unemployment and poverty as a result of the lockdowns.

Not much cycling and walking currently. It's raining for weeks. Just to the shop when necessary. 5-8km round trip.

Had to stop running some years ago due to cycling accident.

Treated a patient yesterday with oxygen saturation’s of 52% and still able to speak to me. Was a healthy male under 60 years old. I wont comment mortality etc but the pathophysiology of this is different than any “flu” we’ve seen before (at least since the technology to show these physiologic derangements has existed). I don’t think you can argue with that (this isn’t some one off case either)

US helathcare is trash though, brb spending $500 a month for healthcare but getting the exact same care as some unemployed lazy person who gets free Medicaid, brb paying $500 for healthcare but having to wait 1 month to get an appointment at the same time someone who gets free Medicaid also waits 1 month
