Hi,
I joined BB.com a couple of days ago and I spent some time visiting the forums and reading some threads, posts, etc. in orther to gather some informations and see what's the general mood here.
As much as I've not experienced any personal problem, I must say this place is the most toxic I've ever been in my internet life. Lots of brutal exchanges, trolling, sexism, homophobia, ignorance, intolerance, maliciousness.
I don't mind explicit language or explicit content, believe me I don't, but this is literaly AWFUL.
But I must say I've found this specific forum to be way better. I've found some useful infos and was able to actually read a thread without feeling uncomfortable.
It's just because of our age? What do you guys think?

This "Over Age 35" forum seems better

It is better. I think because the mods don’t let as much craziness slide there and just certain kinds of ppl like to post there. Lots of good folks in that section.

Welcome Emicad. Yup, misc is where the toxicity is... but some good discussion too if you can wade through the muck.
Otherwise stick to the lifting sections... which don't have near the volume of posts... or mudslinging.
OF course O35 is a 'little' more mature :PIt's never too late!

Agreed....(although, I'm hanging mainly in the 0V35 Misc. since I had to quit weight training)
I've cruised the regular misc. lately and chimed in on a very few select topics.
But, know this...one can start some innocent thread or contribute a friendly, benign, helpful response and still receive the most insulting, belligerent comments.
Some are unbelievable.
Oh well....that's how that forum rolls.
Hence....I 'roll' in the 0V35 misc.
Have a great day all....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 12-11-2020 at 06:27 AM.

Yeah that's the Misc. The nutritional forum, losing fat forum, training forum, etc are all good. The Misc is just a free for all, made up of lifters and non lifters alike. Some have given up lifting, others I don't think ever even started.
You're right, it's incredibly toxic, chauvinistic, and homophobic. Some of it's amusing, if you can take it with a pinch of salt.
I'm really surprised BB.com allow it to continue, since ultimately I would have thought it reflects badly on their brand. But it is a relic of a bygone age. And where else would those folks go to ask, "What rating would you give this chick that I just banged?" along with accompanying photographs.
As it happens, most of the good BB advice I've received on these forums has been from people in their forties and fifties.

I actually joined this forum years ago to post in the Misc. because a lot of my Sherdog buds posted in there. I went in a couple of times and got bored because it was no different than posting in the Off Topic on Sherdog. So I never came back for several years.
I didn't start logging back in until recently (especially now that I've actually gotten back into bodybuilding now that I'm not boxing) and was drawn straight to this subforum. I like posting in here not only because it's relevant to my training but also because you can have a normal conversation with someone in here.Age: 42

I think there is a time and place for everything and if you contain stuff like that one subforum I don't have an issue with it. Especially if it helps keep the nonsense out of the other subforums. At the end of the day, if a sub like that brings quite a bit more traffic I can see why you'd leave it though. More visits, more ad revenue. Of course members can avoid the misc. if they don't like the foolery.
But you're right about many of the misc'ers never lifting a day in their lives... I know a couple of them personally that post in there.Age: 42

Ha...."I love eggs" sig.
Me too!....plus, "I love bacon" so much it was incumbent of me to add it under my name.
I'm having a generously thick BLT for breakfast this morning.
Red....where do you hail from if you don't mind me asking?
The weekend is upon us....be well and imbibe safely during the Holiday Season.
Carry on....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 12-11-2020 at 09:31 AM.

Goooood mornin'....
Thanks for responding to my curiosity.....I'm in the Kansas Heartland north of you as of just over a year ago.
Yep...b/eggs are always a hearty, tasty choice for this old bird too.
I'm just glad to still have a good appetite any my age.
I'd recommend "sitting outside with one of your favorite cigars and chill" again today.

Mornin'AJ....
No....but, I didn't have high expectations for an appropriate response/resolution.
When I did inform Cross Country they sent me to some damned worthless 'claim' site to fill out a form for what was missing and all the other bvll shvt they require in this context.
6' ladder, 4' aluminum hand truck, a bin of my old recording gear (nothing I use currently but still good gear) and a couple other bins with kitchen items: blender, wok, etc.
They deferred me to the 3rd party subs they used which was just their denial of any culpability.
Were they irreplaceable items?...no. Does it still piss me off....absotively/posilutely!
But...we're settled here now, just over a year and glad it's done.
It was hell doing a cross country move and 5K on a credit card....that really stings when one sees that monthly statement but it's slowly going down.
Thanks for asking AJ...hope all is well with you and the family orbit.
Have a great/safe Holiday Season with family/friends.USMC: 1965-1969
