Thread could use a post. Still training hard and consistently here.
My summer cut got ended early last year due to covid and other life distractions. I had to jump back on a gaining phase to make up for the setback and atrophy, and then figured I would do a late winter "mini-cut" to finish what got left undone last year and see where it leaves me. The plan was for a fairly aggressive 8 week cut. I'm on week 6 and really pleased with how it is going. Fat has just been melting off quickly and consistently without any tracking. I suppose that is the payoff for having done this a handful of times.
A couple of short clips from yesterday's workout. The distribution of fat between front and back is pretty crazy. The fat loves to hide in my back. I'd like this to be the first summer where I have a decently ripped back. We'll see if I can get low enough body fat without feeling like crap to make it happen.
One thing I have been focusing on a lot over the last year is stretch mediated hypertrophy. I've actually seen some decent gains in my calves from it. One of the first times in my life where I have reached the point of being content with my calves. Side shot from yesterday...

What are you trying to say here?
If your gonna tag me to “fuking around” and not doing actual work than I must inform you that for as long as you been benching you should be doing that for at least 50reps.
You stopped the set just when the “real work” was beginning. Anyone who has ever trained with me knows this about me, no matter how much stronger they are than me. Yes I know you are a better stronger bencher, “for now”.Authentic Knights Swing Heavy Steel and Have Hands and Wrists of Steel!

Bando,
Here is LWW "work", as I said you are stronger bencher for sure. I don't have a bench and have only been doing this type of lift for 2years or so.
I'm working up to 135.
Here is 116 x 43, 1st set (I did a heavier set of 10 which is rare after) (I normally do a 2nd set for 20-25reps).
This was a 2# and 1rep increase from my last session.

Here's me doing 75 lb dumbbells x 35 or 18 or 2 reps depending on how you count.
75 is the heaviest at Planet Fitness. I usually do sets of 20 but wondered if I could do 40 (I couldn't) and asked my wife to record me when we were at the real gym.
I'm glad I had her record. I knew I wasn't really locking out, but until I saw the recording I didn't realize I was doing half-reps when I went that fast.
Today I went to PF and concentrated on locking out and clicking them together on top.

I opened the >35 and realized that I cant complain about what this place has become. It is like "quite quitting" >35 style as most good posting has long left.
Anyway. I am now over 50. Doing the same thing I have for years. No PR's, no nothing really. Just an gray haired dude with the realization that my best days are behind and just trying to find life balance.
Snapped a quick leg shot.
It is time for me to get serious and cut back on food and try to get in better shape for summer. Typing that as much for me. Need to hold myself accountable.

School ended last week and I made my return to my real gym, which is at the university where I work. During the academic year I just dink around with dumbbells at Planet Fitness. The university gym is super crammed during the year but empty in the summer. I was the only one in the weight room for some of the time today.
Benched 295 pretty easy, but my foot slipped out during it. When I tried 315 I was concentrating on my feet and my body slipped down and I tried to muscle it up from near my neck. Didn't work. Got reset and tried again. Nothing slipped but it wasn't happening. So somewhat bummed. Thought I was as strong as two years ago when I did 3 plates. Last year I messed up my shoulder playing frisbee and kept it light all summer.
I want to stay consistent over the summer but also want to lose a lot of weight and put a lot of miles on my bike, so don't know that I'll be trying heavy stuff that often.
Set my phone camera up on the drinking fountain but pressed a wrong button or something, so my failure is undocumented as my success would have been.

Nice progress if you learn how to pose correctly you will accentuate your build much better, practice. Example when you turned sideways you rounded your shoulder, covering your body, throw the shoulder back and elevate your chest up and pull in your abdominals. When you do a double back bicep shot arch your back and lean backwards.

@LWW congrats on the progress. What are your overall goals? I might pass on some advice, but I am not sure what you are working towards.
@bando. Looking good man. I forgot how similar our builds are. Srs, if you cropped off your head, I might think that was a pic of me. Not good or bad, just an observation. So yes, I know we both struggle with the same areas Nice work!RAW lifts

Goals are to keep progressing on short 1-2set workouts of a lift/body part and see what the results are.
I’m happy that I’m leaner and have gained some muscles.
I’m in this for hard training though right now.
Looking like I train is first goal.
Maginze front cover = not my goal.
I’m a way you could say I’m just experimenting. The actual training is far more important to me.
Might as well post any progress.Authentic Knights Swing Heavy Steel and Have Hands and Wrists of Steel!

@LWW
Gotcha. Only thing I can share is my experience. You have definitely built a base underneath you. Nice work.
For a lot of years, I was only focused on strength. I was a 'bulky guy' and people could tell I worked out, but I was not 'in shape'. First we all with our fragile egos dont want to fully realize just how much fat we carry, but for many of us, even me now, it is more than need.
When I finally dropped down to reasonable bf, I was so happy. Never in my adult life did I realize I actually had a decent build. This was back in 2012. Over a three month period of WAY (over dieting at about 1500cal/day) I dropped about 30lbs. I was still carrying quite a bit of fat but I lost over 6" off my waist and arms and chest stayed the same. Both pics are same state of flex. I am actually trying to suck it in with the first pic . But you can clearly see the difference in waist dia.
Now if strength was my main goal I would have not continued to try over the next few years to cut deeper and deeper. Eventually it cut into my strength. I was only mid 180s in 2nd pic and was strongest power to weight I ever was, benching 225 25 times. I felt insanely strong for my weight. I could rep out pullups like it was nothing. And before you say anything, this was pre-trt. Still lifetime natty. At the time had low t but had not figured it out yet.
Over the years dieting down lower and lower bf each time, I eventually started to lose (relative) strength. Despite over some years being almost 15lbs heavier and leaner, I only ever did 225x29. So my best performance was still to carry a decent bit of fat but not too much.
Anyway, I am just sharing how nice it is not to carry around extra bulk for no purpose. You get the benefit of actually being able to see all the hard work you put in. Just some food for thought, but I am glad I dropped extra fat many years ago.
I think you would be amazed if that is what you wanted. I would help in anyway with advice if you wanted. But I also respect your journey as your own. Just sharing from a guy who has walked in those shoes before.

ID, I’m goals are actually similar to what you described. I’m visioning myself loose more fat and gaining more mass and aiming for those rep numbers in pressing. I don’t care about low reps anymore, I’m not even interested in even dead lifting 405 again until I put on more mass.
I’m also not trying to win any race either, to me I’m enjoying the journey.
I’ve got a 10-20year plan, sorta, I know 10 years go by fast though as my 30s are like a blur so I’m not slacking either.Authentic Knights Swing Heavy Steel and Have Hands and Wrists of Steel!
