You and your cardio squats! Hey all good buddy.
Agreed 100%
Jokes aside I'm in a hypertrophy phase myself this cycle. Did squats last night and hit 15 total reps with LONG pauses, then 18 reps with 1 1/4 squats (which always feel like 2 squats each) - actual lifts put me at the equivalent of about 50 reps total over 300lbs. Destroyed me! Closed it out with a 'heavy' walkout - I want to feel my goal weight until I actually lift it , then a bunch of RDLs and accessories. Phew!

Bench day with relatively high volume also went well. I think tempo bench is my coach's absolute favorite. Did a bunch of those, then wide grip, then my new approach of unracking the US/WR and holding it to challenge my CNS.
I'll just share one of my tempo sets today. Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!
I have much to be thankful for in life, I hope you do as well.

If you ever want to try a completely "out of the box" type workout, try 1/2 bodyweight back squats for 100 uninterrupted reps. I can't remember who created this, but I've done it 3-4 times succeeding twice.
So if you weigh 200 lbs, you're squating just 100 lbs. At first you think this is a joke. By rep 35, you start to realize that it's not as easy as your originally thought, and by rep 60 it becomes a struggle with your mind. You don't have to continually be squatting, but you can't rack the weight.
You're probably going to be sore the next day, but I wouldn't say that it's necessary going to do anything from a hypertrophy standpoint. It's just a challenge. A challenge best done in a private setting ;-) because it's humbling to be seen struggling with an oly bar and a couple of 25's or soPull-Up PR: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177233951

When I weighed 180 I got to 59 reps with 155 first time trying something similar I failed to stand up on rep 60. It wasnt private setting it was a theme in that coaches garage. I remember one of the guys son about age 10 standing in front of me with a smile on his face while I was grunting groaning on each rep I had slobber flying out of mouth and sweat. I was thinking Jesus this kid is getting drenched.

Hit 29 squats here for set 1 (well 30 if you count tilting the bar at parallel). I stopped at 29 because I experienced a headache on that rep, so I stopped.
After walking around a few minutes I was fine, added 11# and hit 15 more reps.
This weight is getting heavier and it's a good bit more than my last 32 rep set. I need to make sure not to rush into this too quickly, I wanna build up to doing more reps and slowly go heavier.
I can't get over how good I feel after these................

Ha....you are still around? You have not drunk yourself to death yet? Well it has been years. Why dont you post up a pick of what you look like these days and make me feel bad about myself.
The bitterness and jealousy is pretty obvious. Yep, I have lots of 'stuff'. Self made college dropout who moved down south with my belongings in garbage bags to go make a better life for myself. The same determination that gives me the discipline to not skip a working in 10 years was applied earlier to success.
But none of the material stuff matters to me. I have a wonderful wife (who I might add is hot as hell and great kids. I also have friends who are like family. So you seem like some dude living alone in an apartment somewhere with no one, just lashing out at the world.
Truthfully I feel bad for you. Pretty sad.RAW lifts

There is a lot you dont know about me. I made the decision over 11 years ago to stop chasing MOAR. I had lots of 'stuff' but after my accident I realized I was never truly happy. I decided to greatly simplify my life. Took 3 years off. Partially because the economy collapsed, and part because I had to recover from my brain injury, and part just because I realized I needed to be a better husband and father. When I first came to this forum, I was reconstructing my life. The gym was the only thing I could control. I probably seemed a little overzealous, because I was. I was not working and dedicated myself 100% towards coming back. I had to in order to find myself again.
I went from having a 10,000 sqft home on almost 4 acres with no neighbors, multiple cars of all sorts, 3 helicopters to selling everything and moving into a neighborhood so my kids had a place to play. I got rid of all my employees. At my largest I had over 60 employees. I went to none.
Went a few years with no income and realized I could not wait around and had to find a way. Sold all my retirement, took the kids college funds and started investing in real-estate. It was not glamourous, but I did what I had to do. I did not buy a car for over a decade and could care less about 'stuff'.
I have totally gone overboard with the cars recently. It is something that COVID reminded me life is short. My son and I have been greatly enjoying our journey. At 14 I have had him on the track and we just did our last event of the year at VIR. I am lucky enough that I can afford to do it, so why not? But I am not defined by it.
Cars are cool but the memories are much better. I still have a work truck I bought in 06 and I have a KIA suv that I LOVE. Stuff does not define me, but I can enjoy it. I know 100% it is not the source of true happiness. My family and friends are.
Wish you the best man. No fun in punching people while they are down. I hope you find the happiness of each day. I have seen all too clearly that there are no promises in life. It can all be over tomorrow. Enjoy each day since there are NO bad days. Just some not as great as others.
Oh and if you do want to be a prick, I say cool. Just put your money where your mouth is. Put up 10,000 and I will as well. We will have an escrow company hold it. I will take a PED test and if I fail the money is yours. If I dont, it's mine. Simple. I mean get real dude. I am the same size, actually slightly smaller than I was 5 years ago and you think I am riding bikes. No hiding that I have been on TRT past 6-7ish years I think. I actually like keeping my hormone lower as I feel better. I feel best around 700-800. If I go higher, I feel groggy-is. At super-physiological levels I am downright sleepy all the time. Almost like the start of a cold. At this point in my life I am not getting any bigger or stronger. I am just staying in shape. So if you want to call me out, put your money where you mouth is. Otherwise, just shut up. Imagine what it might be like for you if you did not miss a workout in 10 years. You cant. Well that is the life I have been living. Dont underestimate consistency.

Das me. A little frustrating to watch that, but I am just evolving to what I can and can not do. Fracturing my spine and the disk injuries from 3 years ago when I got rear ended, have really taken their toll on me. I used to want to believe I would return, but it has been over 3 years now and complications from the underlying injuries just get worse. Kind of funny how inherent back or core injuries make other areas worse. My shoulders have gotten really bad lately. Every time I put 315 on, it just brings pain.
So, I no longer feel like a quitter saying that I am just looking to 'stay in shape'. I might get my balls busted since all I am posting in this thread are pics, but frankly watching me bench 225 is not all that exciting. Or some days my shoulders dont let me get past 135.
Just super thankful for the years of training that actually pay off. My workouts are a shadow of what they were, not because I dont want to move more weight, yet I really dont look that much different. I will be crossing the 50 bridge soon enough and am not feeling too bad about where I am. Never satisfied, but that is what I need to keep going.
My goals are now to be really lean for next summer so I am going to continue my fasting protocol. Doing 3 20+ hour fasts a week for about 4 months now. I do feel I am shrinking some, but hard to tell as that is the mind fuk of cutting in general. I never would have believed I could maintain eating the way I do currently though.
Make me want to shout out to the long lost brother HighISO who was telling us all about how good fasting worked, but I was too dumb to listen back then. Hope all is well with him. And I will gladly tell him he was right all along.RAW lifts

THESE high rep squats have added power already.
On Thursday I did 40 squats with 55# this just in passing.
Last night power cleaned and strict pressed 174 (was stuck on that for a strict press). Then power cleaned 194 and jerked it like nothing.
Did some moderate dead’s then pressed 165 from the rack.
BW 220 and back on eating junk high rep squats make me snack.

I typically stroll in here Sundays to get some inspiration for the coming week from my beastly Iron brothers like LWW, DrPepper, Bodyhard, AJD, and Company. All good, positive stuff, and then I see this here negative crap between OS and ID. What I'm gonna say is conveyed with constructive intention (mostly) and please take it only for what it's worth. Meaning from nothing to something and anywhere in-between.
ID, Dude, u got some real thin skin there, brother. Particularly for a dude with so much going for you. I could say more, but I won't cuz u don't want to hear it. Although keep in mind I'm around if u ever want MHO.
and OS Dude, play nice.
Y'all have a freakin' kick-ass week and keep crushing that iron!

Meh..... Hate to admit it, but there is a part of my personality that enjoys a good confrontation every now and again. I have not had a good e-fight in quite some time.
I actually have to laugh at how many haters I have had here over the years. Guys used to talk crap about me on their little face book group that I was using fake weights. Oceanside was one of those winners. And most have LONG quit the gym. I am sure he is in that group.
I have tolerance for many things. But I dont mind speaking my mind about what are essentially people who I can describe as nothing more than detritus. I am a very giving and nice person, but I am also a major a$$hole with little in the way of tolerance for certain types of people. Come to find out, the dude is an alcoholic living in an apartment somewhere. It is not even fun and I actually feel sorry since it is not much a 'fair' fight. I dont like 'punching down', and I actually tried to be nice, but that was the limit of my tolerance.
Life is good man, but I am not perfect. I can and still will be dik to people. I am a big believer in being the person I am in real life when I type my words. I guarantee that most of the pathetic losers who have lobed sh!t at me over the years would not dare say that crap to my face. But the irony is, I would not GAF. Insults from people of that caliber are almost funny and entertaining.
On the cool side, I am mentoring about 5 people from my car group who are trying to take their lives back. It is great to meet new people and make new friends. I am flattered that these people ask me for help. I never talk about working out unless other people want to chat about it. It is a very small part of my life. But it is most definitely a part of my life that I wont quit either.
Props to all the guys who are still hitting it. A little sad that I cant be as intense as I used to be, but I will cheer you guys on none the less!RAW lifts

Monday workout checking in. My shoulder has been giving me CRAZY pain. Like 8-9 stabbing sitting down. Constant and acute. They are about the worst they have been since I messed up myself on a failed 440 bench press years back. I am trying some new stretching hoping for some relief.
Still went in tonight. I could only bench 225 and any reps over 5 started to really hurt. So I did a ton of sets doing a few reps, resetting my shoulders and going again. Just trying to find ways to get the workout in.
Between sets, band stretching. I think it might be helping, but I could not even help decorate the tree. Just trying to reach my arms above my head was too much, even with just an ornament.
Sometimes I just want to stab an ice pick in the middle of my shoulder to get at the pain. It is so deep in there.

Pull aparts do work, but you should not work through pain; you have to do reps slowly and progressive overload is a must. The best option is a 5 band chest expander, so you can start with one or two bands and progressively overload until you can use all five bands. SLOW reps and patience pays off. This is a decent routine: https://www.t-nation.com/training/on...oulder-health/
