Front squat day. After doing triples and doubles with 238.5 and 258.5 lbs respectively, did two singles with 285 lbs. First is with a belt and very slight pause, way less than what I wanted. Second single is beltless and also took off knee sleeves. Knee sleeves are so old they keep sliding down and it was bugging me so just took it off. You can tell how much a belt helps by the respective difficulties, the belted rep didn't feel that bad, beltless was a bit of a grind. Finished off workout with floor leg curls using core sliders (if curious: https://www.t-nation.com/training/leg-curls-2-0/ . These are harder than you might initially think especially if you keep you hips extended and moreso if you do it single leg. When I was still in a gym, I did glute ham raises and these are comparable.) Anyway, the videos:

285 lbs front squat (with belt and very slight pause)

285 lbs front squat (no belt and no sleeve)

That bar looks really thin, do you find it harder with a thinner bar?

I finally got 315lbs for 1, its been a long battle for me, but I am there, so I will take it, baby steps!

Still for the gym life capture!!

Love your old school deadlift setting. Looks like even with the elevation you're at a slight deficit compared to using Olympic 45 lbers

Dude, great catch man, the Olympic 45's are pretty much that height, I once added 45's to those 100's came off the ground several inches before the 45's.

    /QUOTE]

It can be both harder and easier, a thin bar is easier to grip but that bar don’t have knuring.

That bar is also stiff which makes it harder, there is no flex in it.

I know we're not all made of money, but I'd say a decent DL bar (I love my Rogue one) is 100% worth it!

Thanks man, check out the thread I made, you will see how I loked when I first stepped foot in the gym after my depression and the medication I was on.

There is a guy at our gym that brings in his own DL bar, it bends a lot and it makes the weight look heavier than what it is lol Its a black bar, not sure how much he paid for it.

    Thanks.

I was in the middle of getting rid of all my equipment because I was only going to train at a gym, by the time I got rid of most of my 45s the gyms all closed. I was left with 4-45’s and several 25s and a pair of 33’s less than 500#

    Or

Small hole plates 4-100’s, 4-50s 2 25’s plus I can add Olympic plates to that bar for over 700#

I had already spent money and space on training my whole life, I foolishly thought gyms would be around, but that’s called taking things for granted.

I have to pay for a house now, not more plates and equipment.

I’ll keep these weights in a storage unit and lift there or my car if I got to.

I know - I've looked! You work hard and it shows!
Not sure what he has ofc, but USPA usually uses a DL bar that is longer and bends more. It it definitely easier to pull off the floor the heavier you go since you'll have the first few weights off the ground before the last few! :P
I'm getting excited - my weight is down a bit - so should make weigh ins well below 198 tomorrow, and then the meet is Sunday!

Did some power cleans and press/push press as I did last week. Worked up to 205 lbs for a single power clean and push press. Did a lot more ramp up sets than last week hence only did a single push press. Did power cleans and press up until 165 then did power cleans and push press with 175,185,195 and 205. Finished off workout with bent over barbell rows, Rolling Thunder deadlifts and ab wheel rollouts

Got a call from Bodyhard tonight, always great to hear his voice pushing me to the next level.

For the unaware BH is the voice in the 1st video and my spotter in the 2nd video. Hard to believe this is like 9 years ago.

The small space doesn't phaze me as much as he is doing this on a second floor. If the folks on the 1st don't care that's a plus, but I wonder if you could actually DL 500 on a second floor like that, unless it's got a concrete subfloor?

The first floor is a dental office. I don't even know if he's been open since the pandemic but either way I usually don't work out before 5pm so they'd be closed by then anyway. I'm not going to deadlift anymore (did do some dumbbell deficit deadlifts before I got the bar and squat stand). While there's always a chance of a freak accident, I'm being fairly consevative with both weight and reps on squats to avoid any scenario of having to dump the bar. All of this was suppose to be maintenance until I find a gym again but I'm kinda enjoying working out like this and always hated having to go to a commercial gym (love lifting weights, hate the gym).

I'm back from the USPA drug tested Western Regionals and will give a complete meet report in the PL forum.

Ready to focus on changing to a bulk for the next 5 months and IPL worlds!

Nice! I went to 3 of those to support some member here as I went to some bodybuilding shows to support some members here as well. Bodybuilding is more my thing by a long shot, but man I never did it, kind of a regret of mines now, but it is what it is I train to look good naked now

I get you! Definitely a great experience overall, and something that is worth attending. I'll have to check out a BB meet at some point too even though that's not really my thing at this point - although who doesn't want to look good naked!
Also, it's never too late! (I actually just put that in my sig) - I bet you'd set some records!

    Anyway, here's my meet report:
