I never posted about it but I got a cellulitis infection in my foot back in May and it lasted for several weeks and I ended up in the hospital for a few days. I literally could not walk or drive a car let alone train. And I have permanent damage to my foot as a result and while most of the pain and swelling went away I still have residual pain as of now even. Had an MRI in December and it was confirmed that there is permanent damage to the bones in my foot. So anyway that kept me out of the gym from mid-May through mid August.

I fugged up my back deadlifting in November and I thought it was just a minor tweak and I kept lifting and made it worse. Kept me out of the gym for a few weeks in December. I could not even put my own shoes and socks on, let alone train. I can do everything else except deadlift now, so I am doing what I can and training 6 days a week again since Jan 5.

The other two injuries were minor and didn't require me to stop lifting, so I dunno how that makes me a whiny bitch. I have done, and always will do, whatever I can to keep moving forward.

Fukk, in the summer of 2017 I tore my groin in competition on my 2nd squat attempt (605 lbs) and I still finished the comp, then came back stronger in the spring of 2018 and smashed a 620 lb squat. I may be a lot of things, but a whiny bitch sure as hell is not one of them.

I dig and that's a legit bummer. With that being said, who gives a flying fuk if someone calls you a "bitch"; particularly on the internet. That $hit should only ever provide a degree of motivation, and mileage of course will vary.

In my humble opinion, when you cant train your body due to injury, you use that time to train your mind. As the two work together to help in realizing our max potential.

As you know, we need resistance to push against or we fall. If it helps, feel free to use me as a form of resistance. I'm always happy to be of use.

    EDIT: Now I'll shut up.

    haha! BOOM.

For what it's worth, the story of Alex Smith on 60 Minutes last week helped me turn the corner on my latest setback. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend checking it out. The video is copyrighted and not found on YouTube, but here's a transcript:

Alex Smith 60 Minutes Interview: “This year has only emboldened for me that I can play at this level”

    Mega inspiring stuff!

Not lifting due to injury is a lot different than not lifting due to "drama" at home.
    [/QUOTE]

IDK if this statement needs clarification or not but I will clarify that I’m NOT missing workouts because of that, I don’t train for 2 hours but that’s not essential to make gains. I’ve found training briefly and being creative nets some of the best progress.

Understood. I still dunno how you make progress doing one set per squat session, but anyway....

GJ Flex, way to dive back in!!!

Did a makeup workout on Friday to get my Deads in for the week.
Was going pretty heavy, trying to blast through them so no vids again.
Capped a very good week overall though!

    425x2, then 4x2 @405, all 2" deficit
    3x8 good mornings @225
    3x12 reverse lat pull downs
    3x12 face pulls

This week will start each day with a top set (1-2RM) to see where I'm at (1 month out from comp), then do a normal workout.

Been at this 'for real' (was in the gym casually for ~6 months before that) for 3 months and feeling good - the newb gains are real.
(I do have progress pics up on my bodyspace)

Good stuff. I just uploaded a pic and I look the same, lol. Finally had a good bench day and even was able to use my 75's on incline for the 1st time.

I got about 9weeks to get 225 on bench, which has been my goal since starting back.

    Hello everyone, checking in.

I trained my deads today even though my right leg is totally ached up from Friday squat workout. I figured I’d just warm up and go by feel. My goal was 450#.

I have recorded every dead lift from 435 to 475 so there was no point it was the usual, my patio using the thin bar.

    The entire session-
    220 x 2
    282 x 2
    320 x 1
    342 x 1
    382 x 1
    430 x 1 (2-minute rest) 450 x 1

450 was just starting to get hard, my leg felt a tad better. The most work of this is lugging 100’s 50’s outside loading and unloading carrying back inside, LOL.

All this session was is to keep muscle memory on 450. This time last year I was not even lifting 440 at all.

Hopefully this was enough to get me going this weekend improving squats and I’ll be adding 10# to this dead workout next week.

I'm jealous for those plates , but couldn't you just leave the loaded barbell outside, covered with a tarp?
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.

Not unless I want more stress in my life. Loading and loading is worth it.

I actually did that I’m my single days.

Build a box to fit the loaded barbell and have a flip front, so you can roll the barbell out. Paint it a pretty color and put waterproof cushions on top to make it a seat. Surely, Her Highness wouldn't object to that.

This week is 'deload' 'test' week, so working up to a single to see where I'm at, then some accessory work.
    Monday = squat day!
Did a bunch of singles, up to 435, which felt good.
Attempted 455 which would be a post-injury/old man PR, got a little high in the hips and forward over my toes and dumped it.
Attempted at 455 again and got it with very little hitch at my usual sticking point. Ready to hit that and more in next month's meet!

yeah, a little scary, and then somehow managed to get the bar between the upright and the safety bar... a little headache but fine thankfully - dumped when I felt myself get beyond the point of no return leaning forward.

That got a little hairy but nice on the 2nd one.

I just came up from the basement from legs.

I felt great warming up, went up to 205x2 and those felt awesome. Decided to drop back to 185 for more reps and 1st damn rep my hip pain came on strong. Pretty disappointed as I felt so good with form and up easy out of the hole with 205.

Continued with some lighter split squats and rest of my calf, ham curl and leg extensions.

I'm going to attempt again either Fri or Sat. if the hip feels better. I don't know what the heck to do at this point about this hip issue. Thought I was over it for sure.

Damn sorry to hear about the pan coming back, I know that sucks.. I am going up tonight by 20lbs (10lbs each side) and my back/legs feel good hopefully there will be no pain will report back with video when I get back from the gym. My son is not going so the video's are going to be in a weird angle as I will have to find a place to set the phone.

Awesome workout tonight, no pain in my back, weights felt very light (as they should) except on the OHP that last set of 5x5 was a killer. I always record my last set so I know I got all 5 sets! But very happy with tonight! Going in the right direction!

Sorry for the crappy angle had to find a spot on the floor

You know whats weird is I don't feel pain in my back although the problem is in my L4/L5. The pain (when it happens) is in my hamstrings, butt, calves and feet. I say back because thats where (according to the doctors) the pain originates from. But I don't feel any pain in my back whatsoever even when the pain was at its worse, wierd.

The worse part (for me at least) is the weakness I feel on my legs which is extremely evident when I am lifting.
